I've seen kevlar mat available all over ebay. You can lay it like fiberglass mat on the inside of the door. You need at least 5 layers to impede handgun rounds. You need tempered steel plate and reinforced hinges to stop rifle rounds. I've thought about doing the mat to my truck before. The plate is cost prohibitive and it really messes up the the "M" on your A=F/M. It does really help your sprung weight for ride quality though. ; ) RUMBLERS!!!! They'd be fun if they're allowed in your area. They're sick!

There's a device that allows the vehicle to stay on to power the lights and sirens while the officer is not inside. This also powers off the engine if anyone tries to put it in gear! A great addition that could be added to this custom police interceptor.

DUDE!!! Finally :-) Been waiting for this to come back! I'd go with AR500 Plates Level 3 Armor, stops all small caliber, AR 556 projectiles and even stops up to 308 FMJ, It's pretty much a bad ass piece of armor. You might need to configure 4 of them on each door to get full door protection, but I'd say the level 3 AR500 is sufficient for this officer! I'm sure he would agree as well, that's what we use in our department.

Do you maybe know what range those visor lightbars have? Cause if it only lights up the vicinity then it's kinda pointless. I'd like them to have a range of a long beam, or something similar.

There is no cheap way to up armor a car door. Adding weight will cause hinges to sag or fail without some type of reinforcement. If you use a soft material it will cost a pretty penny. Then you need to think about what threat are you trying to stop? Handgun is the easiest to defeat and the cheapest. If the officer doesn't have a good vest then put the money towards a couple ceramic plates and a good carrier. Up armoring a door is time and a money hungry project that if not done properly will only give a false sense of security. There is a good reason it cost a ton to have a pro do the work because you are now sticking your neck out that what you are giving back as a product will work. I would pass on this unless it was my own car for research. If you make a mistake you could cost him his life. I don't want to be a downer but just pass on this.

I am genuinely questioning this "cop" friend now. So we know this is his "off duty" personal vehicle. Why does he need bulletproofing? As working for a law enforcement agency, none of our marked units or detectives have bulletproofing, and they are drug task force vehicles. Even so, the LAST thing you want to do is go "cheap". This guy must be going after some hardened criminals on his days off. Then the off-road LED lightbar, you know, the one that is for off-road use only. Yeah, be a shame for an officer to break the law by using that on the road. And the el-cheapo LED lights and siren. SMH. @ChrisFix, I love your channel, but to me, you're really on the fence about illegitimate use of emergency vehicle. Even if your friend is a cop, it sounds like these cheap mods he is having you do are not with his superior's blessing. I cannot think of any chief that would allow their off-duty officers to have their personal vehicle kitted out. It creates liability for an agency. If I saw this thing going down the road, I would call my captain about someone impersonating a police officer. This screams nothing but a mall security guard with failed dreams.

Hi Chris. I've worked at an armoured car manufacturing company based in the United Arab Emirates and manufacturing APVs (from the ground up) and conversions on SUVs, trucks (cash in transit) and the liat goes on. The first thing you would have to decide on is what type of protection you want to offer: A. Do you want to bulletproof the car? if yes to what level? B. Do you want to offer the officer a mobile shield? in case of a shootout a place for him/her to duck behind? BR4 (specific to Cash in Transit or CIT) offers protection for light firearms and fragmentation and an secure enclosed vault for transport. BR6-BR7 are close to army specs and in some cases surpassing them. BR6 Toyota Land Cruiser will withstand heavy fire and explosions (IEDs). An armored car will require heavy manufacturing: welding base armored steel for the floor, overlaps (for both transparent armor and steel), A B C pillars, roof, fuel Tank, engine bay, firewall, upgraded suspension to manage the weight, upgrading brakes and run flat tyres (the list goes on). So I will presume you would like to bulletproof the doors only. In this case I would recommend to start with the hinges and upgrade them to handle the added weight. Weld inside the doora armoured steel (the more expensive types will be thinner and lighter) and transparent armour (windows, fixed - to ad in the new window crane it takes a lot of time and money) remember the window will have to be mounted in such way that will allow ocupant/driver to kick out in case of rollout or any water scenarios. Cut the timings (plastic doors and dash) to fit new door and you are done.

I think a 'fixing it forward' series similar to 'Eric the Car Guy' would be a great asset to your channel.

heavy stamped sheet metal over the windshield with heavy armor welded to the sides with tank slits and a ford v10 to move it all around oh and dont forget the 50 caliber machine gun mounted for the passenger to wield next to the bean bag gun torrent mounted on the roof and then maybe some sort of pepper spray cannon would be in order which of course would automatically put the ac into recirculate mode

Strobes in the hazard lights/turn signals, and also on the exterior mirrors. Oh and one big fat giant magnetic rotating red Kojak light for the roof. He doesn't have a hair on his chest if he doesn't roll up to the next call with that bad boy deployed.

Man i love this project. You should get the Wig Wag head lights, tail lights and reverse lights. Or hideaway strobes in the turn signals.

An idea for this car would be too have a built in handgun holster at just above knee level on the right side of the driver seat. I have seen this been done before and can prove very useful if he is in a shoot out and needs to hand over a pistol to another officer or his pistol has a major malfunction.
