Meant to say, my old Mk1 Mondeo V6 leaked oil, I got a crank shaft kit from the USA, consisted of a very thin metal sleeve and tool to fit it over the original crank shaft, no more grove and no more leaks. Now my ST220 is leaking. Bloody Ford's!!!

It worked really well! 👍 Regards the ST brake caliper, I can't believe the cast was so far out! Good bit of fabrication though, bet the owner was chuffed. Me and the misses did smile when you found the exact bell housing bolt from a mrk 5 Mondeo, you'd chucked away cos too difficult to put back in! I've been there on my lads BMW 330d! At least the gearbox is lighter! 😂 Great vid, looking forward to the fly wheel, clutch, gearbox refit! 👍

If you do not have the proper pins for lining up the sun frame then spray paint the join to the body with light coloured paint. That way when you put the frame back on you can libe it up to where it was (I speak from experience and it works a treat).

It's not good to use copper grease with aluminium parts like gearbox case. It's indusing galvanic corrosion betwen this two metals. Anyway, great video and instructions. :)

First time I have to disagree with the work done ST220 customer car as I recall, only one brake cable replaced both should be done due to the amount of work involved, dropping the heat shield, the brake caliper I would refuse to bodge it like that, but thats just me, you washed the engine down after fitting the new seal, would have done that before fitting it, episode 1 there was 10 minute of nothing before you got round to doing something, mostly interesting your work is a welcome distraction thanks for the effort you put in recording, editing, and putting out for us to watch.

Hi interesting video keep up the good work can't wait to see the test drive, I think a elf suit would be good.

It is not recommended to grind aluminium as it clogs the wheel, if you really have to then use a course wheel :) The easy way to remove that oil seal without damaging surfaces is to drive a self scrapping chew into it and use a claw hammer to pull it out :) The difference between a plastic and a metal impeller on a water pump is of importance if it is driven by the cam belt, if the coolant freezes solid and you try starting the engine then a plastic impeller will beak up and allow the engine to turn, with a metal one the cam belt snaps !

Allan Oder the orange gloves with little bumps on from eBay or euro car parts they are much stronger 😃

brake discs...... mmmm ok here we go groooves in the discs do nothing.... they make it look ccol on the street...maybe the grooves i think..are supposed to de.glaze the pads when they overheat in asda car park and they make a funny grinding noise when you stop... how many new performace cars do you see with this type of disc... ? cross drilled discs the one swith holes in them allegedly.. help with cooling.. porches and stuff have them.. so must be good eh... untill the holes get clogged with brake dust after 27miles..... then porsche charge £800 for cleaning the holes out... performance pads make the difference... then they squeak..:) admire your skill alan N x

Hi Alan, one of my taxis is going to be the scrap yard after it’s stripped, have a question regarding the seats, the seats are leather and we have another taxi that has fabric seats. Are these easy to swap over and what do you have to do with the wiring in the door for the memory to work for the seats. Cheers Alan

Hello, I'm going have to replace the DMF and clutch but the most what scares me is te 4 bolts that holds the subframe on to the car. I think they have never been lose and my mondeo mk3 TDCI is 2002 model. Can I do something to minimize the risk that te captive nut begins to spin?

Hey Alan, love the show - I have a Mk 3 2L Duratec, which needs clutch/DMF done - how long does the job take with the typical garage facilities you have (i.e. hoist, gearbox jack, engine support bar etc)? I'm contemplating if I should do DIY - it'll be my first time doing it and only having jack stands, will need to buy engine support bar etc and still faffing about under the car. What do you think? Cheers
