Todd, as a former engineer I am deeply impressed by your creative tests that you set up. How about doing a "behind the scenes" video showing you (and any team members) from start to finish setting up all the tests for a video. Show how long, maybe what was tried but later discarded ( tests, jigs, etc) and just give us an idea of how you get to a finished video. Thanks

Stick with the cheap stuff then. Like harbor freight. Those tools except for ICON are super cheap and safely have a few good uses out of them while doing the intended job they are meant for. I bought a super cheap set of Pittsburg 1/2" impact sockets years ago for $30 on sale. To this day I still rely on them at my shop and surprisingly have minimal wear. I call that a win especially when an upgraded 1/2" set with Snap-on or Matco ranges from $300 to $490. So his videos save us lots of money, just wished he tested more professional brands or high end brands for mechanics piece of mind. A lot of the stuff he tests does not hold up in a shop atmosphere

I'm all for Made in USA tools, but I also don't mind giving my money to countries like Germany, Japan, etc. As long as they don't violate human rights (China and others) I have no real issue. But I typically prefer made in USA in order to support my wonderful country.

I started putting together a toolbox when I was a teenager in the early 90s. Every tool I bought was made in the USA, including one of the vintage Craftsman adjustable wrenches you showed here. Nearly all of those brands are now manufactured in China with noticeably lower standards of material and workmanship. I appreciate that you mention where each tool you review is made. It's important to point out the historic companies that are now American in name only.

Fortunately, I inherited many of my Gandfather's OLD Made In USA Craftsman tools. Back when they made real tools, And my true "Vise-Grips" are from the 70's..That being said, I'll still dig through tool cribs at swap meets for real Made In USA tools

Thanks for all the tests you do. To be honest, if I need a new tool, I look on Ebay for a used old made in USA one first. I needed a 15" adjustable wrench recently and ended up buying a 16" P&C which was the predecessor to Proto that was made in the early 70's. It will last another 100 years.

I think P&C was maybe a sister brand to Proto because they were made at the same time and Plomb predated Proto.Also the ratchets were different than Proto or Challenger

Great video, as usual!!! It IS unfortunate a LOT of 'USA companies' are importing their products and simply riding the coattails of their name. I've seen it with auto parts for over the past 40 years while working at various 'mom and pop' stores. The once grand companies which were renowned for quality are simply shells of their former glory. My opinion is.... IF you're gonna have your headquarters in the U.S. you better be building your product here also.

Hate to tell you if you dont know, AC Delco/Chevrolet is being sued right now for putting made in usa on package and the part had on it, made in China. Its against the law but the FTC today the way its going (Biden) probably doesnt even care. This enters a new realm of "good" parts and reliability that the US has never seen before.

I've an old pair of proto channel lock pliers from my dad. When they're eventually blown up, dropped into the abyss, or simply lost it'll be knipex and not an American brand that replaces them. I'd love for US manufacturing to suck less, but you've gotta go with a tool that lasts.

Video idea- leaf gutter guards. I've tried a couple types and not really been happy with either. A big problem I had was how they deal with snow and ice in the winter. One type caused ice dams and another created huge icicles. Thanks!

i have metal mesh ones made of stainless screen and just run heated ice dam melting cable along top of leafguard or bottom of roof to let it drain in winter and prevent icicles

Todd, I think your name is Todd, I just went to buy the ceramic trim restoration kit and the first photo actually shows “ recommended by Project Farm“ You actually have a seal of approval whether you are aware of it or not. You have certainly made it to the big time. People TRUST you and companies are aware and VALUE your recommendation. It is at this point where others have sold out, people that had gained a measure of trust and then began to shill for companies and sell out their audience. I don’t think you’re gonna do that. I don’t even think we have to ask you not to do that. You are clearly having too much fun doing what you’re doing on your own terms. Your enthusiasm is infectious, and every video you look like a 12-year-old on Christmas morning. I really enjoyed this video - I like how you didn't just say "this is the best locking pliers, and this is the best knife sharpener, and this is the best whatever". Summarizing the tests for each product, describing WHY this was the best one, even touching on when this product was second best in a certain test despite being best overall. Great video. I like buying Made in USA too and am willing to pay a reasonable premium. But when Snap-on wants $27.75 for a single 1/4" Drive 6-Point Metric 10 mm Deep Socket (Item no :STMM10), I go elsewhere. I love my old Craftsman USA tools.

Snap-on makes good stuff but they're way overpriced. if you have to have snap on sockets or tools look for Williams Tools that r made in the USA.. their a snap-on company and they're basically the same tools except they have Williams name on them. They're Also other brands made in the USA that don't charge as much a premium as snap-on that make very high quality stuff

@@IJLook I don't have any vintage Williams stuff but I'm sure it was quality. I have vintage Bonney Proto SK, Blackhawk, and a few Snap on things. they're all quality American made tools. Plus a bunch of Craftsman USA stuff.

@@darrenporsch Snap-on is good for sure. I have a few that I got used. I like Williams too. I have some older Kobalt tools that were made in the USA. I believe old Kobalt USA were made by Williams and Danaher if I recall, on par with Craftsman. I have no brand loyalty. My toolbox is like the United Nations, I have stuff from everywhere.

I wish there was a store in which everything sold was "Made in the USA". Were capable of making a very good product at a reasonable price, and I honestly believe if shopping for American made products was more convenient more people would choose to do so.

I love my Benchmade mini griptilian. Carried it for over 5 years at least 5 days a week, still sharp and I’ve sharpened it once or twice. And sent it Back to Benchmade to be sharpened once. They have great service, and it came back good as new sharp but I feel like they took off a lot more material than necessary. Oh well still love it.

Might be a little late in the year to make sense for the channel to start testing this year, but I'd love to see a comparison of some of the water filtering systems designed to be used with garden hoses for car washing. I have such hard water it's impossible to avoid terrible water spotting, but would rather save the money if they don't work reasonably well. Thanks for all the fantastic videos!

The turtlewax hybrid solutions ceramic spray wax, same product line as the one in the video, has helped tremendously. It's sprayed on while the car is still wet before drying the car off with microfiber. The alcohol in the spray helps to quickly dry the car before spots appear.

@@ben501st I'll usually use a detailer type spray like that as well. Works out better than nothing, but sometimes I don't have the time available or get distracted, or just before winter I like a couple coats of Collinite "Super Double Coat" which seems to get a negative impact in terms of longevity over the winter when layered on top (it's possible I'm imagining the results though). I'd be happy just to find a pistol-grip hose nozzle that will last more than one season. The pistons that determine flow rate always corrode and get sticky and won't shut off......

@@goodun2974 They aren't as convenient as a good pistol grip, but there are some really good quality "fire hose" style nozzles available. I don't recall the brand sitting on the end of one of my hoses right now, but it's been going strong for almost 20 years.

I can’t thank you enough for your videos. I follow your advice closely. I’ve been using and collecting tools for nearly 40 years. Among them are irreplaceable hand tools manufactured in places such as Chicago and West Virginia. There was a time not long ago when many of the finest hand tools in the world were manufactured in the USA, and it’s worth our collective effort to restore our status in manufacturing.

The Cerakote plastic treatment is the real deal. My wife was tired of her faded plastic on her MDX and wanted it fixed. Because of your video, I bought it and I followed the instructions exactly and no lie it made the plastic look brand new. It's been 2 years and it still looks perfect. Saved me $ thousands from having to get it painted.

Video suggestion: I would love to see you test lead acid battery banks used for solar, or house batteries on boats. Some people say you should "equalize the batteries" monthly, and others say no, that takes life off the battery. Does equalizing extend or degrade the life of a lead acid battery? Love this channel, always well designed experiments and tests. Thanks for all your hard work

By no means would not equalizing your batteries or equalizing them really amount to much of a loss or gain honestly it really comes down to how frequently the system is having to charge and how quickly they drain and of course age of the batteries

Started buying all Milwaukee after seeing them perform so well on this channel consistently. I'd pay more for them to be made in US. After I did a full shower remodel, the price of the tools in the end was much less than everything else, so might as well buy quality to begin with.

Have you done a comparison on multimeters? It's always good to have an all-purpose one around the house, from checking small house appliances to troubleshooting electrical problems in your vehicle and power grid. Are they all accurate, or are some more accurate at different rates. I bought a kaiweets ht118a and I know fluke is the go to top brand.

After watching your knife sharpening video I bought the 5 piece Lansky set. Sharpened my pocket knife and a few kitchen knives to 20 degrees. We have noticed the difference. Worth the $62. Thanks!!!

Simply astonishing level of detailed testing on American-built products and a fantastic benchmark for other products to meet. In the UK we have the British Standard mark (in a kite-form) and maybe there should be an American Standard too (PF Logo, perhaps!). Brilliant video.

That was nice. In my lifetime I've seen the same shift here from pretty much everything being made in Canada to almost nothing at all. Gray Tools is still a fine local family owned business but they do have a budget line now that's Chinese.

EGAD! I watch ALL of your videos, even if I have no particular interest in what you are testing(rare ! ") It beggars my vocabulary to find words that adequately express the admiration in which I hold you, for cleverly designing testing jigs, mechanisms, ingenious " tools " , & your capability for eliminating to the extent possible, sources of test error, & your adherence to minimizing sources of advantage or disadvantage amongst the devices under test. You cobble ("cobble" in this instance is a positive term), ,together ingenious testing schemes from common, easily available materials of low cost , thereby achieving near professional test lab grade results ! Engineering schools would do well to adopt some (or all !!) of your methodologies. I admire the fact that you accept no "freebies" or compensation from manufacturers or other sources, & I have yet to see any evidence of bias for or against any product. Your KZfaq "channel" is a marvelous adjunct for those seeking the "real " info for the quality of products folks may intend to purchase. You represent Sir, the "acme" of testing excellence. When the US maker of Craftsman tools got bought out or went out of business, I started buying every US-made Craftsman tool i could find at Sears and at Sears online. I already had enough inch tools, so pretty much stocked up on metric wrenches, metric sockets, screwdrivers and adjustable wrenches. it worked out well, but I passed on most of the inch sockets and wrenches at that time. The US-made sockets and screwdrivers were top quality. The wrenches were decent quality and strong.

I think the Vintage USA stuff is the best all around. Just bought a brand new L. S. Starrett tap wrench, and the threads were gulled when it arrived! The 40 year old one I got off Ebay in a different size is far superior

Always enjoy your test videos, and this one is no exception. Well, it is a bit of an exception since it's top ten products you've tested. :-) Great idea. I'm one of those old guys who remember when Craftsman tools were at the top of the food chain. Damn shame they went the way of the Dodo. I still have pliers, sockets, and other tools from them including a tiny automotive wrench set that I don't think exists anywhere nowadays as any brand. Still find a use for them occasionally, although not on a car.

I have genuine American made Craftsman tools. Back before Craftsman brand was bought out, I bought a five gallon bucket of assorted tools, there was a broken half inch Craftsman combination wrench in the bucket, I took it to a Sears store, they gave me a new one no question asked. What’s ashamed is it’s hard to get genuine made in the good ole USA products. 👏👏👏

Love this concept and I completely agree on spending more for valid "made in USA products". This Top 10 could be the start to a new series for the manufactures as well which might help out people who already have a lot of tool batteries for one manufacturer. "Top 10 Milwaukee 18v tools", "Top 10 Ryobi 18v tools", etc.

I still have a Craftsman 225pc socket, ratchet, and wrench set when they were still American-made. Giving them hell all the way, there's no slop in any of the ratchets, and all the sockets have held up nicely. They stay in my trunk, for emergencies. Keep up the awesome videos! 🙂
