LEARN HOW TO GET FLUENT AS QUICKLY AND EASILY AS HUMANLY POSSIBLE IN ENGLISH!!
I just want to say that I truly spoke from the heart in this video. I really hope it helps someone.
Anyway... okay... so I got you with a clickbait title. Don't hate me (mehh... who am I kidding. Some of you already do for no reason. Haters gonna hate). But why did I do this? Am I looking for views and clicks? Well... yes and no.
Yes, because I want the people who are looking for a quick fix to becoming fluent in English to watch this. If I titled this video "Don't Believe the Marketing Tricks" then that just wouldn't catch these people's attention. YOUR ATTENTION. I want to tell people that this kind of dangerous marketing which tells people that you can learn English in 3 months (or whatever stupid deadline they give) is SO MENTALLY DAMAGING. It creates anxiety, low self-confidence, demotivation, and stress. People start to think they're failures and are bad at learning languages... so they give up. Everything you learnt and worked for is lost. It's just such a shame.
And of course... no. I'm not looking for clicks and views. I just want to help people. That's literally it. It's why I started my channel and it's why I make videos every week for you. If one person who's been anxious and demotivated about their English watches this and changes their entire perspective of language learning and regains their confidence and motivation, then my work here is done and this video worked. Thanks for hearing me out. I really appreciate it. 💚
12:17 - Tips to help you improve your language skills. They're all ones that I have tried and tested myself, so I KNOW they work.

I teach using just one of many accents in the world. Please only learn it if you like it and if you are interested in learning it. I do not believe there is one “correct” accent or manner of pronunciation and I fully encourage EFL/ESL learners to expose themselves to as many varieties of English around the world to become accustomed to the beautiful variations of this world language. I focus mostly on teaching “Modern RP” (I may just say “RP” in my older videos, but to clarify, I do specifically mean “Modern RP”), however, you will hear a lovely little Yorkshire twang to my accent from time to time too. Please LOVE and BE PROUD of your accent. After all, it is part of your identity and makes you unique. 💚

I hope this little story can help: I was a complete dumb in English and French at school. After "studying" English for 10 years I was barely able to understand someone asking me a simple question. A couple of years after finishing school I decided to set my own method so I could do something about it, and in around a year I was pretty shocked by the results... It was just about doing everything I enjoyed, but in the target language. I just forgot about using Spanish (my 1st language) when I wanted to watch a film, read a book, I enjoyed translating songs and catching up with phonology through that... I know it sounds way too simple, but it actually works! when you forget about the learning process and you start doing everything in the target language on a daily basis you just absorb it. Now I'm able to speak 4 languages fluently, and it's an amazing feeling...All those years feeling I was a bloody retarded guy, and then, it was just about learning how to learn. Thanks for your video Emma...Big hugs to everyone ;)

It doesn't felt like a longer video, and listening to you helps me improve the listening skills. Talking about the content, It's really a good message which most people hesitate to share. This video hopefully educate people to think twice before investing their hardly earned money on scam marketing activities which probably ruin their confidence and ends up in depression. As you said, the marketing campaigns or tricks which has a promised results within a particular time frame is absolutely 'STUPID'. They try to exploit the demand or needs of people. I think not only in language learning but anything which has demand among people will have shady marketing manoeuvre across the globe. The tips you mentioned are really helpful, especially the second one.! Thank you Emma... :)

Firstly, as a native speaker of Japanese, I am really glad that you decided to study Japanese. Thank you, Emma! Secondly, thank you for talking about this huge elephant in the room. I have been jaded about those hideous marketing tricks for a long time as well. Nobody tries to learn to play a sport or a musical instrument in a few weeks, but when it comes to learning languages, people assume (or are made to assume )that they can master their target language in such a short time.

English is my mother tongue and Hebrew is my Father's. I basically have two first languages, if that's even possible... I am now learning to become an English teacher, and I find myself finding "new words" in English each and every day! Today; for example, I've learnt _forlorn_ is another word that is similar to dreary, or lonely. Never give up hope with learning a language, or as Barak Obama used to say: "Yes we can!".

I really appreciate all you've share. I'm Taiwanese, and I'm a psychological counselor. I teach children English in a private tuition especially british accent. 'Pronuciation with Emma' is the most brilliant English-Teaching-video in youtube. So I share it with students. It's not just your pronunciation or video but your class can really help people 'thinking'. Even there are 12 students in one class, they got the same teacher , the same period and situation. Some of them learn quick and some are not. You're right for this 'we don't need to follow other's rule and expectation(teachers or parents). '. Then I'll encourage those students in your way. Because I think it's right.

Thanks Emma for your tips and all your encouraging words. Leaning a language is so difficult. It has been years since I have started learning all by myself because I was so bad in school. In France, they are not good for teaching english at school. So technically I am learning by myself with series in english with english french subtitles first and now with english subtitles. I am listening to Podcast recorded by my favourite actor who is english. And now I am preparing for the TOIEC. Each day I listen some of your videos and I am really learning to sound more British thanks to you. It's so easy to listen to you, I can perfectly understand what you say. I don't think I will be completely fluent one day because it's really hard but I am progressing each day and that's a really good thing.

I pretty much had the same story you had with French with my English, but a thankfully, 8 months ago, I got the motivation from listening a good podcast and the fact that I tended to enjoy it a lot more when a watched movie is in English (original version) than the French dubbed one. I started having fun throughout the process then bought English grammar in use ( for intermediate). all Those helped with the listening, comprehension, and reading, but my speaking stilllllll sucked. This was until I came across the phrase " pronunciation with Emma" on Twitter. Since then I've been feeling more confident when it comes to speaking since I started getting Right most of the sounds ( th, oo, w, i, ii,) . I just keep following you.

I hated other languages also. But know times changed. I am crazy about British English and German. I love to pronounce aloud the English poetry: Burns, Blake, Shakespeare, Kipling and others. And I still don`t care who can become fluent in 5 days or 12 months and so on. Real is just your own goal and willing.

Hi dear Emma. First off all I really have to say you're a great teacher and your pretty smile makes it easier to get what you're wanting to teach us 🙂 (and yours nice red hairs ). Just compliments, I don't want to hit on you 🙂, really not but it's more pleasant to have a teacher like you than a creepy... Boris Johnson for example 🙂 I appreciated this video because you're totally right. We don't have to follow this stupid goals of this several apps saying it's possible to get fluent in a foreign language that fast. I never made me pressure on schedule to progress in English. I think I just had facilities in understanding, and recently I started to speak with natural born speakers and realized that I really moved on just listening English (yours or American) and was happy to heard of those people I'm really good for a French 🙂. My point is, as you said, I never put pressure on me to reach particularly goals and it has been naturally for me. You're really brave to start learn Japanese, for me it's like an Everst to learn a language with a totally different alphabet and sounds we're never heard. I really like you're KZfaq channel, not a found on Video games so I never tried your twitch one, but I'll follow your tip for trying read or listen English contents of topics I like, science, technology, even if I know I would certainly have to search translation of specifics words hardest to get those with just the context. Please tell me what I have to improve on my sentences construction, I think I'm still thinking in French before transposed it in English. Thanks for your work, I see you're enjoying share your experience in language's learning, keep it that way. You're French secret "lover" 😃 Luc

I totally agree that each one has its own pace and I think that most of this kind of thing is just marketing. It is good to know that you are learning Japanese, although I follow procrastination with Emma (sometimes), I had no idea that you were learning Japanese. It sounds like a challenge, but it's a nice language. Similar to you this year, I started to learn Russian because I was looking for a completely different language and also to test some of the learning techniques I learned while studying English. The secret, I think, is doing it at my own pace. Learning a language because of deadlines or needs is not a pleasant thing. That was my story with English. Everyone should study at their own pace and using the methods they like best. About English I think I only start to really improve when I incorporate the language into my daily life, reading news, listening to videos, interviews and TED lectures and writing articles and text messages. Good luck with the Japanese!

I agree with you. In this video you demonstrate that you are an honest person as well as very good, nice and lovely. However, the speed of learning a language depends very much on memory, very little on intelligence.

I like the way you say the word "Japanese". I feel the British accent. Your channel is by far the best channel to improve British pronunciation.

There are so many click bait in the internet which are how to influence in 7 weeks, how to understand grammar in a month and reh teh teh. I was thought wow how could they can be afford to learn english with wicked fast in that day ?. I've been learned English for 10 years and I'm still need to learn more and more in order to be more fluence in English. I reckon learn or speaking in English in that short time is jolly hard from the beginner one and that's can be make very like not the Sharpest tool in the box for me as well if we force ourselves to getting more fluence English in jolly short time xx.

Thank you Emma. This is very hard question for me. I have been learning English 10 years now I live in London my English much better. I enjoy processes now. I am not responding to the comments of other people because many people correct me and say Do not talk at all if you do not know how. I follow to my goal. Thank you.
