Another great video Paul. 1 thing that have worked extremely well for has been replacing rice for potatoes when dieting. Just ordinary white potatoes, steamed or baked. They are extremely filling, and you get a lot more volume. As I am sure you know, they are also ranked the highest on the satiety index.

Calorie ratings are made in a furnace that burns the food and calculates the calories. Your body does not work that way. Protein takes about 1/4th of its potential energy to digest while fats and carbs are easily digested if the proper enzymes are there. Many people don't digest fats very well because their gall bladders are clogged, lowering bioavailability. Others don't have enough acid and enzymes in their stomach, leaving broken aminos and allergic reactions...

I agree, I look at whole food calories, liquid, and calorie dense foods differently. Worked for me 🤷🏻♂️

I've always interpreted the idea of Volumetrics as something that refers to the actual WEIGHT of the food. I suppose that is volume by definition. I've read that mammals like whales will stop eating plankton once a certain weight of plankton has been consumed. The larger the whale, the greater weight of plankton must be consumed for the it to feel satisfied. Apparently humans operate by many of the same laws regarding satiety. Healthier whole foods are relatively lower in calorie, and higher in fiber. Their fiber content and their actual weight, fill the stomach and bring on signals of satiety. Whole natural breads, potatoes, fruits, and so on, are very bulky and heavy for the calories they represent. Many processed fats are very light. They actually float on water, but are very calorie dense.

Great video as usual, but the background music, constant zooming and background flickering makes it hard to focus on what you are saying instead of the visual stuff. Almost makes me want to turn the off the screen.

I like the balance of both, I bulk cook meals so I know what I am putting into these but I also like shop bought meals as they provide different flavours and yes it the moment I am trying to gain a bit of muscle so getting the calories in is hard as I am not hungry as much so the odd piece of chocolate or cake helps, I just have to be aware not to over eat the sugary foods (which I do from time to time 🤫)

I thought I read an article on the Ripped website about two studies that were done at two different research lab/universities in Germany. Both studies had two groups of people, one consuming 2100 calories per day of healthier whole less processed foods, and the other group consuming 2100 per day of highly processed foods for 12 weeks, I believe. Even though calories were the same, fat loss amongst the participants in the healthier food consuming groups were higher....and SIGNIFICANTL:Y higher. They concluded, I think, that macros from healthier food sources are more available and more easily utilized from the cells for energy....( something like that). Okay, let me restart the video and see what's up. Thank you.

I feel like the hunger component is the big underrated one. We’ve all seen how much people struggle to reach their goals because of letting hunger overwhelm and constantly overeat. But of course, balance! Cause ice cream.

Like saying a mile is not a mile if you're in a car versus a plane. A calorie is just a unit of energy. A calorie is a calorie.

Something Dr Robert Lustig has been saying for ages and no doubt would fully endorse your message. Sad part in a good way is, you are preaching to the converted, your message needs a bigger pulpit if not a soap box. 😂 Thank you for uploading and sharing. Damn those pop tarts. 😂 Caveat As long as they ( I doubt it's only ever 1 ) have been factored into the kcal profile. 👍
