Heat is the best way to get rid of bed bugs. I had them a month ago. All I did was set up two small space heaters, put them on the highest setting, turned on my small fan to circulate the heat and I let the heaters run for like 12 hours or more for five days. It would get so hot that the skin lotions I use were watery. I even had a bottle of water in my room that was warm. It's been a month now and I haven't seen one bed bug. Heat definitely gets the job done.

I did extensive cleaning for 3 days using foam bed bug spray and bed bug powder and wiped in the creases with a damp towel, I covered my mattress with a plastic bag you use for moving and taped the ends to seal, and then cover it with a bed bug blocker encasement to save money from buying a new mattress but I threw all my pillows away and washed my covers in very hot water. I had a minor case of bed bugs but I wasn't playing around.

It's great when a room like his is very clean with absolutely no clutter, but when you have to work with clutter...it's a nightmare to get rid of bedbugs. Heat treatment isn't always a solution when folks can't afford it.

I’ve had some bites show up and caught a couple. Notified my apartment landlord and she wants me to pay for the treatment plan which I declined. There is 12 other people living in this complex and constantly moving in and out. How they can put the blame on me is beyond ridiculous. I suggest anyone in an apartment complex to deal with it themselves

You have to seal off the room too so they can't escape. Seal the cracks, the outlets, the windows, doors. Also it takes multiple times or heating it continuously for many days in a row just to make sure you got all the eggs and everything. Make sure to vacuum and clean everyday as well.

Heat is definitely the best way to kill bed bugs. It is important to set up the room properly to avoid cold spots. Removing all of the bedding and setting the mattress and box spring in an A frame are two very important steps.

I have to say, I have found the thing about bedbugs hating light to be incorrect. I've had them come out, being very hungry because my bed was isolated, to try to feed on me in broad daylight. If they are hungry enough, they will not care about the light. That is a misconception.

Remember, you must stop them from the SOURCE, or they just come back. Hint: Check your wall sockets, it is one of their favorite secret entrances and hiding places.

An additional layer of protection while living through this process is putting rat-trap sticky pads under each foot of your bed. That way the get stuck trying to reach you at night while you’re sleeping. Make sure to move you bed away from the wall and side tables tho and to make sure there are none on your mattress (use a sealed mattress protector), and pillows, sheets, and blankets which have been put in the dryer on hot for over 90 mins (kills BBs even the eggs)

Delta dust, D-fense SC and a heavy duty steamer took out the infestation in my sister's house. They were in the arm rest of her couch. The couch went to the dump. Find the nest, it's not always a bed. These things are a nightmare if you don't get control quickly. It's a good idea to get mattress protectors for every bed in your home.

DIATOMACEOUS EARTH! Spread it EVERYWHERE around your mattress, frame, and cracks around carpet. I spread it around the top of my mattress too, making a circle/ barrier for the bed bugs to crawl over in order to get to me. This is the only thing that worked after weeks of bombing, bed bug sprays, and washing all bedding. The powder is cheap and effective. Leave it down for a few days or longer( yes your house will look like a winter wonderland). Please research why, and how the powder effects them. Quick synopsis: It’s completely natural and dries their bodies out as they take it back to their colonies.

Excellent product, I like that there are no chemical's used. When I had bedbugs, anyone can get them, they cling to cloths ie. can pick them up at a theatre, the gym which is where I think I picked one up, library ect... I hired a company whom used heat to kill them this worked, but the key is the heat must be over 48 degrees C. the eggs and adults all die at this temp, leaving the heat at this temp for 6 hours. I will remember this product for next time. But if bedbugs get into books and boxes, this product would damage the books. I also had to take all my books I had stored out of boxes and put them in plastic tubs or on the floor as heat does not penetrate cardboard very well. Even if one was hiding in a book, that lone bug could start a whole new population. I also sealed off my bedroom, this is the only place I found them as this is where the food source is, so they would not get anywhere else in my apartment. I have not seen one in four years.

My last house had those same older side-sliding windows. They don't seal the greatest but we really liked them so we opted to keep them instead of replacing. Heat treating is so expensive, I wish it weren't.

This works well, for about 3 days. I managed a 125 unit apartment community. The few times we had bed bugs…. Heat only worked for a couple days.

What did you use to heat the room and where do you get it?

Twice I have lived in buildings with bed bugs, and while so many others were continuing to be infested, I was able to rid my living space of the critters all together. I used three tactics that have worked every time. 1. Wrapping mattress and boxspring in the thick Moving Plastic that comes on on brand new mattresses and taping up any breathing holes in the plastic with duct tape. The Bug resistant pillow covers work well, but the ones they make for mattresses have too much stitching and folds that bedbugs still can nest in. So just straight plastic. 2. Using a microfiber blanket with no seams or stitched ribbing. 3. Spray everything down with straight rubbing alcohol until damp. It not only will dissolve the critters and their eggs, but it also drys them out internally. If the alcohol doesn't work immediately spray a little more. 1-2 saturating sprays will kill them dead. NOTE: a fourth trick that can be used is to fill four tuna cans just little bit with rubbing alcohol and place those under your bed post leg. This prevents the bugs from even being able to get to your bed. But do this along with the plastic, microfiber blanket. There are sites and articles that claim that the alcohol doesn't work, But I'm telling you, it does, and you'll always notice that those sites are trying to sell you some other product or service.

heating is effective, however, bedbugs may flee the heat and thus enter other rooms or neighbours. They' re not that dumb as to stay put if they have a means of escape. This is one of few problems with heat treatment, especially if you are living in an appartment.

I"ve tried this method. In a small apartment. Yes, it did work for a few nights, and then they were back with the flag held high. The heat in that apartment was absolutely torrid. Turns out that the critters are in other apartments of the complex I live in. They found their way back through the electrical wiring conduits of the building (or so me thinks). So..... a yes and a no....you'd have to do every apartment in your building for a lengthy cure......and even then I'm not at all sure that a few which are bound to survive begin the cycle all over again. As for a house, I think it simply has far too many hiding places for the little fuckers and their eggs to be totally exterminated. The only reason these little pain causing, sleep depriving parasitic bastards haven't taken over the world yet, is that they know if they kill us humans off, they will be in moocho trouble themselves.

I bought a 140,000 BTU kerosene heater and treated 2 large rooms ( the infestation hadn’t had time to spread) in my house, I got 170-200 degrees surface temperatures, maintained it for 9 hours… worked great… melted the vinyl window blinds.. but It turned my Bed Bugs into Dead Bugs .. ☠️☠️☠️

All you need is 91% rubbing alcohol or get you a bedbug steamer, either way. That alcohol kills them and their eggs.

Other videos I've watched mentioned that they can be in the walls (for example, around electrical outlets) where it can be difficult to get the temperature that high.

l used a hand held hair dryer-it works great and l put Boric Acid Roach Powder under my bed and that got rid of the bugs.

Heat only works if it gets to the bed bug . Between the mattress and box springs would be insulated from the heat

Right after he did his first minutes of his show, he had the exterminator waiting in the living room to do his room up. This was truly a very sad demonstration. Yes, heat does kill them buggers but who wants to pay for the expense after 12 hour use of those huge heaters. May as well call for the exterminator. My suggestion to keep them from going to you while waiting for exterminator to show, try using Vicks Vapor rub. My friend's uncle had them bugs, used Vicks, rubbed the cream all around his bed and pillows but not heavy or else you won't be able to breath. Just small dabs of it. Rub a small amount on yourself wherever you think is best. That was his directions for use with the Vicks and he said it worked 100%. He said he had to wait couple days for exterminator to spray his place. It must burn them from it's strong flaming scent. For myself, if I had them crawling around my place, I would definitely throw everything out, including blankets and clothes, wooden picture frames, except for silverware , glasses and other miscellaneous stuff that can't possibly have any space for bugs to crawl into to hide their despicable hideous creepy ugly looks. Clean the place, have exterminator do his thing and move out. Heck with months notice, they should not have been there in first place when caretaker told me she never had problems with bedbugs or any kind of bug for that matter. But which caretaker is going to admit there's been problems with bedbugs in the suite or house. They most likely lose out customers.

All you need is a steamer. Like a handheld steamer. It's going to take a few days of doing treatment. if you have 3-4 hours out of your day. You can clear bed bugs on your own for cheap. Been there, Done it.

Im a certified k9 handler for a pest control company and you need more training buddy not only with the inspection but also with the “heat” treatment you didn’t even lift the mattress!

Trying different combinations of things. DIY home heat with a temp gun and ordering Gentrol IGR, Flex 10-10 and mix them. 6oz of Flex and 1oz of Gentrol to 1 gal of water in a sprayer. Heat room first i got it to 140 but at least 122 every section of baseboard,dressers etc research your temps and time needed to kill all cycles, after cool down,then spray baseboards,headboards, inside dressers,edge of carpet. Put ALL clothes in garbage bags,seperate bags of course,dirty get washed and dryed, already clean just dry on high heat. Buying some Sterilite gasket storage containers for your highly used clothes is recommended. Non-essentials after dryed can go in a garbage bag and put away for awhile. Vaccum mattress and box spring, treat mattress with just flex,then treat box spring with mix. Then ENCASE THEM. Bought mine off Amazon, you CANNOT skip this step.Boxspring and mattress encasements.Recommend traps under each bed leg. A few different dusters you can use, for wall sockets,also called gaps in baseboards or by outlet covers. I did tempo...tried black light flashlights no help, magnifying glass is useful, haven't seen any since. Treat every 10 days with the flex and gentrol mix. 6oz of flex 1oz gentrol..second and third time 5ozs of flex to 1oz of gentrol. After that I would gentrol every 3 weeks. Pyrid and Bedlam plus are also good for nooks and crannies. Good luck hope this helps because paying someone to heat the whole house is expensive. And you gotta think are any in the walls deep to where they survived? That's why I DIY my heat and then insecticides AND IF I see anymore my last ditch will be a product called Aprehend...those of you in apartments or townhomes I would just go straight for that, because you can't control your neighbors. But with Aprehend it's like Coronavirus for bedbugs. It's a biopesticide, you spray around the matress and your basically bait, but when they go back after feeding they infect the whole nest around them...pretty cool.

So I slept at my mother's house big mistake! So everytime I go and sleep at hers I get itchy I hadn't slept there for months and had been fine so this weekend I had to stay there and guess what I'm now freaking itchy. I have told her this and she said she has looked but has seen no bedbugs and would apparently be able to see them if she had them which is bull. This happened years ago and I dealt with itching for years when I was living there and I told her she had bedbugs or mites but would never believe me and said I was crazy. But then she eventually found out she did infact have bedbugs . So it's happened before and I know too well the itching from these bugs. I'm up tonight itching like mad and now worried I might have them in my home I hate these things with a passion and will never sleep at my mother's ever again.

i own a K9 bedbug detection company, i have 2 dogs highly trained with thousands of inspection and trust me 24 hrs after heat treatment the dogs will 100% FALSE ALERT on dead bedbugs, you MUST wait at least 7 to 10 days to be sure the odor is gone...

It may works in early infestation. In heavy infestation, bed bug are hiding into crack.

I don't know about the heat method.. won't it damage alot of your belongings and knic nacs..? I found bed bugs in this old hotel converted into studios in downtown LA.. I purchased a shark steamer and steam every Crack and crevice in the room.. wash all my clothes. Disposed of the mattress I bought a new bed with mattress protector. Then afterwards did a monthly steaming of the room.. you have to be vigilant because u may temporarily get rid of them however living in such a communal apt building u are prone to reinfestation..

I have never tried this method before. Where would you suggest buying this heating equipment? Also, what should I do with explosive items in the apartment like aerosol cans of WD 40 and other stuff when heating?
