I had a music addiction, but Alhamdulillah, I am now cured. From my personal experience, it all starts with salat. However, to perform salat consistently, you need to understand its true meaning and, above all, the proper way to perform it. Incorporate a breathing technique to calm down while reciting the verses, ensuring you do so calmly and to the best of your ability. Remember, "Hasten to the prayer, but do not be hasty in your prayer!

It's difficult to leave it suddenly so just switch to nasheeds first (or only vocals good lyrics, somethimes) ... don't worry 🥹 take it slowly...Allah sees our efforts no body can be perfect... The very 1st step is to delete the song playlists or any access to the songs & switch it with nasheed \ Quraan playlist Also remember that if you listen Quraan this frequently you will hifz many surahs very quick😃

After I saw that music was actually haram, I stopped for a second to think about how many sins I would do of listening to music. So, I stopped listening to music after awhile, even if I was forced/listened to music without any intention I would try to stay away from it.

The only time id listen to music was while riding my bike but now i listen to the quran and podcasts.

Before I used it be completely reliant on music every single day. Whether I'm in the car, alone, or taking a break from studies, I would listen to music. Later I decided to read the Quran on a daily basis, instead of twice a week as I would, until it became a habit, as with reciting dhikr. It's been over a month and I have successfully avoided listening to music!!

God bless you for the amazing piece of advice. Music is directly correlated with the release of serotonin, and dopamine which are chemicals in the brain that correlates with our mood. Therefore, ceasing a music addiction is not easy. However, Allah has given us the Quran. This means that you can replace your music addiction to Quran addiction haha! How amazing would that be. I am on this journey of stopping, just for the sake of Allah. It will not be easy. But, it is getting better. I try to listed to Quran and "Nasheed" occasionally. To be honest, you have to stop in different stages. Stopping all at once is often very challenging and exhibits a nature which will destroy your motivation. Therefore, plan carefully, especially during this holy month of Ramadan, when we should already engage in acts of worship. Best of luck. Please if you have any piece of advice, I would love to hear it. And remember, ask Allah sincerely to assist you and you WILL make it if you try hard InshaAllah.

It took me almost a decade, slowly cut down. This video is exactly how I stopped. You will relapse now and again, but you will feel that guilt inside, that guilt is what allows you to pray and repent. Allah loves a person who repents and begs his forgiveness. You can do it, just try.

Alhamdulillah I too quit music completely back in September and haven't heard a single music(of movies, artist, anime bgm,edit audio, instrumental, background themes, ambient,lofi and what not which i use to listen). I hate music now which was my most favourite thing once (in the time of jahiliya),before practicing Islam seriously. I figured out music is coming straight from shaytan. The one who love music can't bear 30 minute of interrupted Qur'an recitation. All thanks to Allah i quit it.

Brother, I have tried for so long to quit music but for me I find it too hard. It helps me with depression and just makes me happy

just to share a personal tip maybe it works to some when i drive to work, i will not tune in to the radio channels but i will tune in to the islamic lectures that i have downloaded from KZfaq. Once i am done with my playlist i will tune in to the Quran recitations before i get to download the latest lectures Due to the above i find it rare for me to tune in to music while i drive anywhere

especially today with social media, listening to music has somehow become a part of everybody's life whether they like it or not. how many people have tiktok or youtube? just those two platforms are platforms that are brimming with music whether it's in the background or it's an actual music video. being careful isnt enough these days, sometimes deleting the app entirely is the only way to escape.
