Well, to be fair, we don't know how Basilisk look like in the book. The book just described the color and size. No details about how he looks like. In the book, the Salazar Slytherin statue was full body, in the movie, it's just Salazar Slytherin's head. There's a lot of things in that scene that different from the book.

@Kiera McCarron Tom Riddle found out about Hagrid raising Aragog in Hogwarts and pinned the murder of Moaning Myrtle on him. that would be an interesting discovery. it could be not limited to snakes but all reptiles, it's just been mainly recorded as "snake language"

I just checked the chamber of secrets scene, and Harry never actually speaks to the basalisk, but he can understand what Riddle is saying to the basalisk, and earlier in the book he can hear what the basalisk is saying. Maybe being a parselmouth gives you the ability to hear and understand both snakes and lizards, but you can only initially speak the language of snakes. Speaking to lizards might be something parselmouths can learn how to do, like a second language. The Riddle in that scene is 16 and he'd been working on opening the chamber for years, so he would have had time to learn how to communicate with the basalisk. But that begs the question: in later books, Harry meets some Dragons, but he can't seem to speak to or understand them. Are dragons reptiles, or something else entirely?
@MagnakayViolet
@MagnakayViolet 5 жыл бұрын
@@SomeoneBeginingWithI I interpret the differences of snake-speech and lizard-speech as various dialects of the same language; turtles/tortoises and alligators/crocodilians likely have their own, more-varied dialects. But I believe, like dinosaurs, dragons are not closely related, or have diverged so much that it's a whole different language.

English, for example, sounds different with varied slang words as well as pronouncing changes in different parts of USA; peoples from the Colonial North(Yankee), the Colonial South(Confederate), the Louisiana/Mississippi region, the Midwest and the West coast, all speak/use English a little differently.
@Kayari

I know it's all hypothetical, but the thought popped into my head like what if you could get different morphs of basalisks by combining different species of toads and different breeds of chickens,. Like say if you used the egg of a silver laced Wyandotte or a barred rock or something along those lines would you get an some kind of axanthic (or however it's spelled) coloration, or if you used like a fire belly toad or a different brightly colored species, would it inherit those colors? And with enough experimentation could you end up with something that looked like that absolutely beautiful campfire (I think that's what the breeder called her morph) ball python featured in one of your reptile show videos. And would the size of the chicken the egg came from and the toad affect the size of the adult basalisk?

@saliosnoctin7797
@saliosnoctin7797 5 жыл бұрын
That'd make an interesting experiment. Also it might be accurate as if you follow the world of fantasy not just harry potter's fantasy world you'd know there are a lot of different types of basalisks with different abilities but always sharing something in common. For instance in the horror style fantasy movies some basalisks can spit their venom, some can turn people to stone like a gorgon, others can spit out something close to napalm. These types always share a few features such as the head is the same shape as the others but have different features such as spikes, frills, etc. Most in these types of movies have legs and arms. So this is a very possible thing as in most cases no one knows how the basalisks came to be and have only found them sleeping which they ended up being disturbed from said sleep. Not to mention the way they are found is different, such as one being asleep in stone, but none that I am aware of other than in the book in this video has mentioned has told how they came to be. Who knows in the worlds of fantasy anything is possible after all.

I love this channel, started watching a few months ago when one of your videos showed up in my recommended and I've been hooked ever since, now you're talking about my fav thing in the world Harry Potter!! Love it! You should do a collab with SuperCarlinBros I know as a Slytherin they'd love to have you plus they've talked about the basilik a few times but I think getting your perspective would be great and totally different
