Assuming that Genshin Impact's Story "Hex & Hound" are historical retellings or are at least inspired by actual events which ocurred during the age of aristocracy, we can find that this book clearly outlines capabilities of both Light and Dark Magics, as well as their relationship to Alchemy (Potentially even Khemia) which have been made forbidden within in Teyvat because it can be used to resurrect the dead. Could this book be hinting at the missing puzzle pieces that we need to properly understand what brought down Khaenri'ah?

I think magic and vision are two separate thing in Teyvat.

Well, that is indeed also possible. Light and Dark might be offshoots of Alchemy even.

Some other Magic powers , can also be refers As corrupted similar to the durin's power , when we fought the fake impersonator as albedo. Mutated whooperflower.

@@TeyvatHistoria It's been described in The Chasm by a visionless former Teasure Hoarder that the natural Elemental Energy we find in Teyvat is entirely different to the elemental energy that vision wielders manipulate, he also stated that neither he nor really anyone publicly knows much about Visions at all, even the wielders themselves. Lisa also described magic as separate from elemental energy and that her studies of magic is why she is titled a Witch.

no, not really, from what I've seen and understood visions allow humans to use magic of a certain element, everytime elemental power is mentioned in genshin it is called "magic". Adepti, gods and other mystical beings can use it innately but humans can't unless they do some type of rituals or are witches or whatever. Then we also have alchemy which can be as powerful as magic but there are a lot less masters of it remaining

@@Nick-nb2ozXiao is an adepti but cannot manipulate anemo without a vision. Similarly other adeptus have powers different from those granted by vision. Only exception being Zhongli who is also an adeptus (dude is legit called Prime of the Adepti) but manipulates geo without a vision.

These books in game is so sick, it is like a real author is behind these. They could publish this IRL and nobody will thought that this is from a game but rather made by novel author. Applaud thee lore writers of Genshin.

Can't believe they left us at a cliff hanger, even though technically, lore-wise only two things can be possible: 1, we haven't picked up the book yet in our travel of 3 nations (and suddenly, game wise, it gets added in an update) 2, the book is in a nation we haven't visited, locked away by all the possible "truths" it contsins

Add playable characters with light and dark visions and new weapon types is what the game needs. Hopefully adding dendro/more areas to explore/new characters will make the game feel new an refreshed

@@noox13 I think there exists the possibility of Dark and Light visions but you don't really need one to use them in some ways, kind of like onmyoudo charms and elemental potions and fatui enhacements, witchcraft and other alternative means

Speaking of dark powers, can you remind me of how Collei's powers worked? I know they had something to do with some god or powerful entities remains and expirements. But I read all that a long time ago and don't remember it.

In short, a dark power manifest within her after she was infused with the “archon residue” sounds like the remains of a fallen Archon (potentially the previous Dendro archon) were the catalyst. Dark flame magic then would then burst from her whenever she became emotionally unstable

@@noox13 Archon residue is just the remains of a god (it's localized as archon residue because in chinese both archons and the other gods are just called demon gods). The Tatarigami from Orobaxi is a kind of archon residue, and the Crystal Marrow that appear in places with great Tatarigami concentration have fractions of archon residue in them (that is the reason why they were being used for creating delusions).

This light and dark does remind me of the Quantum and Imagine types on Honkai, and they are related to the Quantum sea (thing that connects the multiple bubble universes connected to the world tree) and the Imaginary space (a weird space where the Herscherr can use the full extent of their powers, but I don't fully grasp what that entails yet). Funny enough, Quantum type is represented by a dark purple icon, while Imagine type (wich seems more closely related to the enemy, lore-wise) is represented by a white icon; thus dark and light. Being on the same cosmology, it would not be too much of a stretch to assume that people would find different ways to harness the same energy in a different bubble universe.

No, abyss powers are void meanwhile dark powers are wrath of the gods and are karma, take Xiao for example, you will noticed everytime he wears mask he is getting stronger by using his demonic karma energy as his 2nd power.

Yeah if there are ever going to be new elements then it'll have to be light and dark - standard archetypes in JRPG alike. Can't see any reason not to have them especially if you consider the MC are twins.

Fontaine seems like the likely “no later than” point, but given his experimentation on the children of Sumeru, it could also easily be there as well.

I have a few questions regarding the potential for these "new Elements". From what I understand Darkness (in Genshin Impact) is treated as something evil or malevolent; wouldn't anyone receiving the Darkness Element become corrupted? What could Light or Darkness even do? What would be their reactions even be? Wouldn't each Nation get a Light and Darkness user each? While I think it'd be interesting to see (for example Mondstadt) getting new Vision holders; how would you explain them getting Elements like these? Will you do more in depth theories on the specifics of these Elements?

Do you think that it is possible that alchemy and khemia are forms of light magic? Whenever we see Albedo use khemia it has a distinct golden glow just like that of the traveler's own light magic. Idk maybe there are branches of dark magic that we will learn about in the future. Maybe dark magic is the magic that allows destruction and manipulation of life whereas light magic allows the creation and manipulation of life ie. The art of khemia. All just random speculation, I'm still a lore noob so let me know what you think 🤔

so now according to teyvat's lore, Aether will become the champion of light while Lumine will be the heroine of darkness? and most likley the twins will have to fight for the amusement of the cursed nameless goddess? and if they true wish to turn the game upside down, make both twins team up and fight the nameless goddess with all the 7 elements including light and darkness. might their fight slay that cursed entity.

ALL THE TIME YOU SPENT PLAYING from the moment your twin was kidnapped by the nameless goddess, until the end game, was for nothing. the traveler's goal from the first second in the game was to regroup with the twin, and escape the hell that the world will become. fighting the twin, simply means you changed your alignment, for you strangers who never related to you with anything, are now suddenly more important than your twin... i'm amazed! still we are talking about a theoretical situation here... what if the twin and the people of the land decided both to join power and purge celestia? being that they no longer needs gods nor archons, or anyone else? then will you side with the twin and everyone else, or will you side with the archons having yourself mastered all the elements and became an archon yourself?

A blond girl....a black gemstone...an enchantress of the night...and a snake... why do those elements remind me of the story portrayed in the BP section? Especially if you place them with the animations that follow: the search for the Genesis Pearl and the heir from an unknown kingdom turned into the queen of the darkness. I know the books in-game don't depict exclusively aspects of Teyvat, some are pure fictional work, but sometimes I really doubt the intention behind those "filler" books.

We got a pretty clear explanation during the event of how they were dogs trained to work with ninjas. No dark magic here, just your run of the mill fantasy ninja shenannigans.

I prefer to call these Light and Dark element as Star and Abyss. As that is the form that's more mentioned in the game. Aether wields Star, Lumine and Dainsleif I consider wielding Abyss power.
