Prop Making Tutorial: Pouring an FP-40 Blood Puddle

3 ай бұрынIn this tutorial we explain the process of pouring a Polyurethane blood puddle using FP-40 casting rubber. This is an inexpensive way to produce a reusable prop blood puddle. We poured this on a silicone mat made with 5130 silicone.

Be sure to use a platinum silicone or a really potent release for the pour!

@@bitymoldsupply I tried using evaporated soapy water on glass, and it was definitely not a potent enough release agent! I’m pouring a silicone sheet, now, but I think it’s a tin cure, as it was the cheapest I could find and was unlabeled; do you think tin cured will be an issue? It’s worked really well with the resins I’ve cast, but I’m new to rubber.

@@joshua.merrill tin cure silicones differ greatly. Run a small test first. Some tin cure formulas will inhibit (surface will be sticky) polyurethane rubber.

I’m very confused about pouring the blood onto a silicone mat (the blue silicone)…… why didn’t the blood silicone bond to the blue silicone ? Thanks

FP-40 is a Polyurethane casting rubber so it naturally repelled by the silicone.
