SOO helpful thank you for making this, girl!! I've got a satin pothos propagating in water for over 6 weeks at this point, and I wanted to make sure that I was doing everything right since I don't see much root growth yet, but this was super helpful!

Your satin is gorgeous! You can definitely propagate by individual leaf but the whole stem works too I think it’s just a matter of preference. The satin is one of my favorite pothos but I find it to be one of the slowest varieties to grow

Aww thank you that's so sweet of you to say! 😊 I will definitely have to try propagating the individual leaves and see how that goes. I love this pothos too. Surprisingly mine grow like weeds and I'm already going to have to propogate them again! ❤

This is pretty dang helpful thank you! I purchased a satin pothos a week or so ago, only to find out today that it was far from thriving due to having no roots whatsoever to its name. So I just decided to propagate the entire thing. Now I’m paranoid I did it wrong and here I am, watching this video. Happy to know I’ve done it right. So thank you!

One caveat to keep soil from running out from the bottom when watering, is to use a large enough stone to plug the hole some or, a coffee filter.
@rubyrose49

Will definitely use the coffee filter method. I hate when the soils run off when I’m watering. Thank you for this tip!

You can actually cut each of the leaves off separately and they will each root. Just leave maybe a half inch to inch on each side of the node and stick in water

Kasi Casillas and at the end you can repot the mother plant and add single leaf cutting and maybe 1 or 2 vine cuttings and it will get much bushier :) I do it with all my pothos and they’re much heavier on the top, looking stunning 🌱❤️

I have the same plant but it’s curling and some of the leaves are yellow, so idk if it’s overwatering or underwatering.
@kasicasillas
@kasicasillas 5 жыл бұрын
Sorry to hear that! The leaves tend to curl when they are too cold or underwatered. However, leaves that turn yellow are often due to lack of sunlight or overwatering. It's easier to revive a plant that has been underwatered than overwatered. I would recommend sticking your finger in the soil and seeing if it's damp. If so, then maybe lay off on watering your plant. Also make sure it gets at least a few hours of sunlight. 😊 Keep me posted! Hope this helps. 💕

Hi Kasi! Just found this video because I'm looking at what to do with mine satin. It was growing such long vines I hung the plant about 5/6 months ago. The vines are still growing, but it looks bald on the top... I'd like for the plant to be fuller on top. Can I cut some of the vines with the root bulb like you talked about and put that into the dirt?? Or do I need to cut the vine and put it in water and get roots before potting it. And if so, can I put that little propagation in the same pot as the current plant?? Hope this makes sense. Thanks so much!
@kasicasillas
@kasicasillas 5 жыл бұрын
Hi Erinn! Love that you also have a satin pothos that you're taking good care of! I would recommend making cuttings and letting them root in water prior to planting them in the dirt as that's the best way to assure they root. As long as you don't disturb the original plant's roots too much it should be fine to plant the new cuttings (with roots) at the base of the original plant so that it can look fuller. If you'd like, you can also make a lot of cuttings, have them grow roots in water, and then place around 5-6 cuttings into a new pot and that should look really full and bushy as it grows! Let me know if you have any questions and best of luck with your precious vine. :)

I kept so many cutting of satin pothos in water..but no new rooting are coming..anf some got rotten...all other pothos are easily growing but this one is tough...why so??
@kasicasillas
@kasicasillas 4 жыл бұрын
Hmmm great question! Sorry to hear about the rotting. This pothos is more delicate, however after 3 to 4 weeks in water you should be seeing roots as long as you have several root nodes in the water, at least 3 large leaves on the cutting, and it's placed near a window that gets sunlight. The leaves shouldn't be in the water to avoid rotting. You can also add a pinch of fertilizer to the water to speed up the growth process. I also recommend changing the water ever few days. Patience is key with a silver philodendron 😊. Feel free to message me on Insta with pics of your plants if you want additional assistance 💕

Great question! I was unable to find this plant for a while too. They seem to do best in temperate regions. I had to go to a niche and hipster plant shop in downtown Seattle to find my satin pothos. Perhaps there are plant nurseries that grow satin pothos plants near you? If not, then I would check out Amazon. A brief search led to quite a few good results: amzn.to/2NSAUFf. If you end up getting this plant I can assure you that you will love it! And it's so easy to take care of. :)
