This tiny diy propane tank stove functions much like a Rocket Stove, sucking a large quantity of air through the front to cleanly and efficiently burn the wood leaving little exhuast. As a cnc machinist and a shop owner I have access to machinery that many diy makers do not but many other methods and equipment can be used to make this stove. Every part on this assembly can be made using a bridgeport mill, and with a lot of welding and grinding you can achieve similar results. I had considered making this a wood pellet patio heater but pellet availabiliy in warmer months in Michigan is limited I found out after making my wood pellet pool heater, and storage of the pellets is difficult in the spring and summer due to humidity. Updates on the secondary combustion burner and flue pipe enhancer coming soon. Please comment and subscribe and hit the notification bell to be notified of updates on this stove and our other upcoming videos.

I kind of agree but I think that might work better if I were using it in an indoor application. Outside using it as a patio heater I sometimes have to trade efficiency for heat.

Very nice. I made one very similar with the secondary burn fed from the back and the rocket effect fed from the front. Yours looks nicer. Nice video.

Hey Jimmy thanks for watching and commenting! Did you have better luck with your secondary combustion? My secondary burner seems like it would work good in an indoor application but does little for me outdoors...Tim

That's the best looking stove I've ever seen on you tube. I think you could give the cubic mini stove a run for there money. As soon as I saw the quality I knew you had to be a machinist. Again nice job man.

i used to work for a company that sold and installed wood stoves and that looks a bit smaller, but probably a better option then spending 5 or 6 grand, not including labor...

"15:51" The door is not completely closed- Maybe that´s why secondary burn is not working at 100%. Love this build though.

Hi Mariano thank you for watching and commenting. It for sure would have helped to have it seal tightly but everthing was new at the time and on the hinge side the gasket was still not completely compressed. It later became a tight seal after sitting closed and being used and it did help a little but secondary combustion was not useful for the way I use it as a patio heater. It would be if used inside like in a garage. The rope seals are not very good when you use them outdoors the elements kill them so I left it out after her updates and it still works great. If I ever use it inside it will be put back on.

Thanks Chris! This one is not really practical for us to make and try to sell because of the amount of parts that have to be custom manufactured over 110 total.(It would be in the $4k range and I doubt anyone would pay that) but we are working on a stainless steel version that will be a similar size and can be manufactured easier. If you subscribe to our channel we should have a video out by June or July 2022 if all goes as planned and we will be selling them shortly afterward for a reasonable but still yet to be determined price.

@mvpmachine
@mvpmachine Жыл бұрын
Hi Janet, there is a tray or sliding door for ash removal on the bottom, we use a rectangular aluminum foil roasting pan under it then just pull the sliding door out and the ashes fall right in. The sliding "tray" is shown in the beginning of the video. It is super easy to clean out the coals and ashes it takes just seconds.

You put a lot of works to build this Best store . Do you sell it ?
@mvpmachine
@mvpmachine Жыл бұрын
Hi Le thank you! We do not make these to sell it would be too expensive for us to produce them in quantities. But based on what was learned building it we are working on an all stainless steel version, that will be similar and easier for us to manfacture and offer at a fair price. Hope to have it ready in the next few months.

I bought a Forney easy weld flux core welder. I am looking to start my very first project. Ive got an unfillable 40lb tank. I am wanting to make a small stove for my 28' camper. Do you think I will be able to safely accomplish this goal? Any ideas or suggestions? Also is the welder i have sufficient enough to do a project such as this? If I keep thicknesses slightly down?
@mvpmachine
@mvpmachine 4 ай бұрын
I looked at the welder you purchased on Amazon it should work fine. You must go overboard in cleaning or washing the inside of the tank before doing any grinding or welding. You will have no problem heating that trailer with a 40 pound tank unit. I posted a 2 year update for this project on our channel that will give you some more ideas on what worked and what did not. Thank you for watching and commenting. I hope your project goes well please lmk if you have any specific questions as you go that I can help with.

What would you charge to build one for me
@mvpmachine
@mvpmachine Жыл бұрын
Hi Mike. It will sound rediculous but there are over 100 custom machined parts in this thing, and a ton of hours. It was never my intention to make these for other people because I would have to charge around 5 thousand and I doubt anyone would pay that. But we are working with one of our customers to develop a similar all stainless steel version that will be stop sign shaped and easier to produce. Stay tuned it will hopefully be available soon. Thanks...Tim

some beautiful and very expensive parts welded onto some old pos propane tank.... i don't get it. if you're going to the extreme in quality parts, why not use a better body
@mvpmachine
@mvpmachine 7 ай бұрын
The tank was definitely used but in sound shape aside from some pitting in the outer surface. When I started I thought the pitting would give it some "character" but then got carried away like I do with everything and what you see is the result. In hindsight a new tank should have been used but, it still looks decent and works excellent, I still use it several hundred times a year (used it for 4 hours last night).
