I think this is the exercise that destroyed my back because I did it wrong. If only this video had been available 13 years earlier. Be very careful lifting weights. The consequences of not using the proper techniques are catastrophic.
@dilburdcumbarface96893 жыл бұрын
Yes 100%, also always use low weights, especially when starting out. even something as "light" as 10 kg or 20 kg (20lb - 40lb), when wielded poorly can result in injury. Never start at your max either, always work up to it, so your body can get used to stabilizing and controlling the weight

I'm not sure why everyone doesn't put some functional exercises into their routine like this one. It seems people are just interested in building the show muscles but with no interest in everyday function. Personally, I like to add practical things like this into my routine even though I am primarily a bodybuilder. After all, shouldn't the main reason for working out be to deal with everyday life better?
@TheOnlyBiodude7 жыл бұрын
I doubt many people in rich first world countries are concerned with lifting to help deal with the struggles of everyday functions. Unless you are into manual work or something. People these days would rather train for aesthetics and personal strength goals. it has become more of a hobby.
@CaneFu7 жыл бұрын
Tyrannical Nathan: That's pure nonsense as most people in the United States are NOT rich and do most of their own manual labor around their home if nowhere else. In fact, most people who do manual labor for a living such as construction workers don't even go to gyms because they don't have the energy to workout after a long hard day nor do they need do.
@TheOnlyBiodude7 жыл бұрын
The UNITED STATES has nothing to do with this. My point is that a rich country as this one doesn't require men or women to be physically fit to work or live. They don't need to hunt, fight or compete in hard manual work for big corporations. The people who NEED some extra functional strength aren't able to acquire it. If your only point for functional strength workouts is grocery and house work then I don't see the point.

Hi, I tried it and notice my lower back was hurting, lifting medium sized weights for my physic, should I do with lighter weights and build up? I did not have my back curved forward, and I mostly have worked in my front in the past (push ups and dumbbells). Any advice you can share, would be most welcomed.
@jacobgentile33513 жыл бұрын
If you've never preformed this movement you can't go too light, anytime you try a new excersize you're making your muscle work together in a way they probably haven't done in a long time so everything isn't firing perfectly.
@tyciol12 жыл бұрын
A good vid, was about to get all critical at 45 bend but then she mentioned how hinging further makes it harder, so it's all good. Only thing I'd add is that if people want to bring the elbows out, this will emphasize rear delts more, and make lifting a lighter weight harder.

The dumbells are supposed to move in the direction perpendicular to the ground and not in the tangential direction and also the dumbells should be in natural hanging position and not in a hammer position. You are not supposed to roll back your shoulders but you should 'retract' your scapula. That is called 'Scapula Retraction' and not rolling of shoulders.

The one handed bent over row gives lats with heavy weights. As such not needed for women workout given the strength involved. Cross over pull is much more enduring & muscle flex. Very nice. Have a good one. Thanks.

I always see people rowing with this dumb angle. Use lighter weight and you should be able to go parallel to the floor or almost parallel anyway.

It's MUCH harder on your back to use a parallel angle.

It has nothing to do with your back.... Your back doesn't even move, or at least shouldn't. It's just a stabilizer and as long as you don't break your neutral spine form, your back will be fine and will thank you for strengthening it.
