According to a 2019 study from the Nation Center for Biotechnology Information, nearly half of respiratory patients are making at least one mistake while using their inhaled medication.
A large majority of respiratory patients daily use some sort of inhaled corticosteroid or other bronchodilator. Those with COPD, IPF, asthma, or other chronic lung condition depend on these medications to mitigate symptoms and prevent further lung damage.
In order to be effective the medication must be inhaled as deeply as possible in to the lungs. Medication that stays in the mouth and throat isn't going to help the lungs, and will also cause other complications like taste dysfunction, and possible jittery nerves.
In this video you will learn proper inhaler use to ensure that medication works as it is intended. It will also give you some options to discuss with your doctor or respiratory therapist.
