+Mari Mikan I know and there was no need for the nasty/snide comments to someone who went out her way to share her recipes and fantastic sense of humour with other youtubers. though on the other hand if you take up a youtube channel to video for others you should be over the head who cares what you say - put up a suit of arnour and do not ever let someone you do not know to affect you kinda mind to get through the nasty comments as I only to well have had myself.... I'm sure if Titli came back thousands of her loyal fans would welcome her great personalty back with open arms....X

Welcome back, Auntie; I hope you enjoyed your holiday. I have 50-year-old memories of something my mom called Guiness Pie (maybe that's what we called it because of the stout in it), and I think my Dad's mother or one of his aunties gave her the recipe. I don't remember carrots but it had loads of onions and I know my Russian-Ukranian mother added lots of garlic. She even baked the crust blind, too. I haven't had this for many years; it's time for another tasting.

I know it's been ages but I used to watch her vids back in 2012. I remember her videos and community to be quite wholesome overall. What went wrong? Why did she receive so much hate? Especially enough hate to convince her to leave KZfaq?

@@RexGalilae I think it was down to her steak and ale pie recipe, and whether or not it was haram. Basically I think it was islamaphobs that were doing the trolling and were saying because it contains ale which is haram it is forbidden. As all the alcohol is burned off during cooking it is not haram as it no longer has any alcohol left in it. I really hope Titli still keeps reading the posts on her you tube channel and realises how much she is missed.

She now comes off as unhinged and bashful, completely contrary to her wholesome persona we know and love. Whatever trolling she received at the hands of those islamophobes probably had to have been intense

Titli, I bet you this would be great for the fall! And I got so excited when you added mushrooms! Woohooo! As for viewers asking for an ale (or any alcohol) substitution for whatever reason people may have (religious, product availability, age, health issues, etc etc etc), there are quite a few of these lists online - all you have to do is make a Google search for non-alcoholic substitutions. It's that easy! I've been doing it for years and always had great results.

Titli- why do you bake the bottom crust separately before filling? would the filling make it soggy otherwise? I'd like to try this

r harris that is called blind-baking and is commonly done when the filling is considerably wet (as is in this steak pie). and you're right that it is done to prevent soggy pie bottom

I made this 2 weeks ago. As it was just me and my parents I halved everything (except the beer because I forgot), and it actually thickened nicely and became an awesome gravy, turned out just right. I used a Porter, which makes an amazing rich gravy Also, the recipe on the site forgets re-adding the meat to the mix. Me, blindly following the recipe almost forgot it.
