You are supposed to rotate the hub as you torque the nut inorder to no create a flat spot in the bearings

That’s what I was thinking as well.

Hey got a 2007 kenworth and the front steer axle spindle only have on nut and cotter pin. The socket i use for the nut is 2-3/4” do you have what the torque spec on that single nut is? The front steer axle is a heavy duty 18k axle i believe that runs 425/65/22.5 tires so its a heavy duty axle.

You can always check with the manufacturer to get correct torque specs. On page 32 of the SKF TFO guide the procedures for pre-adjusted wheel bearings are listed. You can find the guide here: www.vsm.skf.com/binary/12-64875/tfo-wheel-end-maintenance-guide.pdf

What do I have to do if I still feel play after torque like you?

Make sure you are using the correct kit if you notice any end play. You may also want to recheck your procedure.

Thanks for watching. The spindle nut may be different sizes depending on the style (one-piece, double nut or jam nut) and manufacturer.

How? I had no problems torquing mine to 250 ft lbs.

I mean don't get me wrong it's tight and I have never had a problem with hub coming loose or the seal leaking.

Feeney's Mechanical Something tells me you don’t have the proper tools for the job. I recently replaced the seals on my hub, and the (Axilok) nut was completely loose. It was supposed to have been torqued to 250 ft lbs. Yet I never had a leak. So just because you did not have a leak does not mean that it was installed properly. I knew something was wrong with my hub the moment I was inspecting it because while I was rotating the hub, it was not rotating straight. It was a bit wobbly. That by the way explains my strange tire wear.

@@thereviewer4173 no I definitely do.

Feeney's Mechanical Then explain your initial comment. I have a 200-600 ft-lb torque wrench, and it was easy to apply 250 ft lbs. I mean, compare to the 475 ft lbs on semi lug nuts, it’s nothing.
