Yes , I have been searching for a pastor that could teach scriptures like he does . I've struggled to understand parts of the bible but he explains it so well. Love it! ✝️👨‍👩‍👧‍👦🇺🇸 - He believes it because Paul in 1 Thessalonians 4:15-18 describes the Rapture of the Church. The word ‘Rapture’ is not found in the Bible, but Paul clearly teaches that we believers in Christ, the ‘dead in Christ’ first, then those who are currently ‘alive in Christ’ will be ‘caught up’ in the air to meet Christ. In the Pre-Tribulation Rapture, Christ’s feet never touch the earth as will be with his Second Advent. The Greek word used in Thessalonians is the word ‘harpazo’ which literally means to be caught-up, caught away, to seize, snatched away.

How does that work against such verses as Matthew 24 and Luke 13 where we as the Church go through the first 3.5 years after the antichrist is revealed by making the covenant with many. Then we will be killed and tormented as believers, and THEN the end will come?

@@ryanvandyke9684 This is a great question, and one I had when we first started attending Athey just over a year ago. I never felt the Bible had enough evidence to point to a pre-tribulation rapture. I was strictly looking at how many verses spoke to one vs the other. But one of the things I’m most grateful to have learned from Brett’s teaching is how the entire Bible works together. He speaks to why he believes in a pre-trib rapture frequently, woven into his teachings, as there are so many other pieces to the puzzle that don’t fit together if that is not there. For example, his teaching from October 16/17 on Daniel 9 looks at prophecy that quite simply makes no sense without a pre-trib rapture. I think that would be a great one to listen to in order to get a feel for how and when Brett works in the reasons he believes this. I hope that helps!

I haven’t listened to the ones on Matthew 24 or Luke 13 yet but it would likely be very interesting to go to the Athey archives and listen to those specific teachings, as I’m sure he speaks to why he still holds to a pre-trib view in light of those passages.
