So true. Thank you. There are no classes or lectures you can attend to learn how to prophesy. Either God talks to you and reveals things to you or he doesn't. The prophets of old didn't ask to be prophets. God chose them. Whenever someone says that one can be taught to prophesy and that at first you might get it wrong, it grieves my soul. So many are led astray and are either listening to themselves or to demons.

I notice, in the second part of this message, Derek Prince does not state that, because Philip is seen ministering alone as an evangelist, it is unscriptural for evangelists to work in teams. That would be dogma. Yet he states that it is unscriptural for prophets to operate alone. That, too, I take as dogma. We may observe how the early Church operated, under Holy Spirit's direction, at that time and in those circumstances. I believe it is unwarranted extrapolation to state categorically that God will never operate differently. Indeed, other scriptures, far from back Derek's statement up. I understand he was troubled by the way some so called prophets were behaving, but it would be better to teach people how to recognise a humble, attentive, dutiful man or woman friend of God. And how to recognise an antichrist. We are warned there will be false prophets, ravenous wolves in sheep's clothing. There is plenty of guidance scripture can give us, without resorting to drawing unwarranted conclusions from accounts of some of what happened in the early church. I note that, in his later messages, Derek is far more humble and gracious, and less dictatorial. Please understand that I greatly appreciate and regularly support Derek Prince Ministries, but each of us needs to be able to discern a fleshy reaction when we see it, in ourselves as well as in others. I have to check my Pride sometimes.. not much anger..anymore..my biggest sin is Worry. It messes with my Peace a bit. But I am getting better at simply Trusting Him as He asked us to do.
