I moved to this area and knew nothing about it. I soon learned to love it. Grocery shopping quick and easy, Dollar Tree, Thrift Stores, a Peebles which has now changed to another store, and on and on. And best of all it's all in one small area. The quaint village of Smithfield offers antiques and specialty shops. If you want more, just cross that James River Bridge, take a left and you are on Jefferson Avenue. Everything is on Jefferson Area. I don't like to go a long ways and I found everything to be convenient. Riverside Hospital is right down Jefferson too on Rt. 17.If you want you can go over to Hampton to shop too. I found it to be a very convenient place to live.

Founded by ARTHUR Smith, his homestead is Windsor Castle (now Park) a across from Smithfield Station on the Pagan River.

My ancestors were early settlers of Smithfield, and my husband and I are hoping to return upon retirement. Great video!

You said that restaurant choices are poor in Smithfield But, you failed to mention Smithfield Inn, and Smithfield Station‼️

John Smith left Virginia in October 1609 after a gunpowder injury and never returned. He died in London in 1631. So he clearly did not found the town of Smithfield in 1634.

Another great video Sam, Smithfield Hams at one point had a specialty store for there hams and things I remember going to Smithfield to get holiday hams with my parents, my mother would not have any other ham on her table but a Smithfield. I also remember an ice cream store in the town we would always stop in of course this was 40 years ago so things might have changed, but it was a nice little town

I live in Smithfield and the ice cream place you are talking about actually still exists. I’ve been probably at least 10 times in my life if not more, my next door neighbor actually works there.

We used to have a lot of great restaurants but the families got older and their children, unfortunately, didn't want to do it. If anyone can get rent prices to go down around town, then we can get a whole lot of restaurants back. Rent can go down for more shopping.

The restaurants you listed are in Smithfield, North Carolina not Smithfield, Virginia.

Got my eye on this place. Its like the last safe place in va not affected by gentrification that gives me a chance to buy a house or apartment. Carrollton and smithfield.

One thing to remember though, the place is getting bigger quickly, I’ve lived here my whole life and this place gets crowded fast, nice place though
