Great video! It was really helpful! My cousin lives in albemarle, and had recommended raleigh as a good place to live. I currently live in ny. My family and I are planning to go to raleigh during spring break for vacation to check out the sites, and hopefully would be some place we want to live

You will love it when you get down here! We've had quite a few home buyers from NY recently come down this way. If you'd like some ideas of areas to check out and things to do, send us an email info@themortongroup.com. Also we're planning on doing a video of fun things to do in the Spring so keep an eye out for that in a few months!

Hi Chris, thank you for the informative video. I'm looking at North and South Carolina so I've been watching several vids like this one. I wanted to mention that your video quality is superb and ask which video editing software you use and also if you're using a green or blue screen. I have a mid-level video editor called Pinnacle Studio 23 and a green screen but I can always see green fringes around my head and clothing. You have no fringes of any color so your software is first rate. Thanks again!

We use a blue screen (because of the tie). It’s all about the lighting. We used a very limited Wi-Fi based software for this video, now we use final cut for most of it.

Yes there are hundreds of thousands of people in Raleigh and Wake county, but there are millions and millions of trees. I've lived in Wake county over 60 years of my life and never seen a Copperhead snake. I've lived for last fifteen years in Apex and Cary (both in Wake county near Raleigh) and the traffic is not so bad. Actually only bad on the interstates (our freeways) going in out of Raleigh and RTP during rush hour. I wish we had more snow. Only have a few good snow days over 3-5 years. Some years it doesn't really snow at all. Summer days can be very very hot. Don't care about the food scene, never have. Have a great music scene. Have a few concert venues that get the largest groups. National League hockey team. The greatest college basketball teams in the nation (well I'm prejudiced about my ACC).

Be honest lol: If you were to live in the heart of the downtown area ie: Glenwood South, Historic Oakwood maybe Mordecai. Can you survive without a car?
@LivinginRaleighTV
@LivinginRaleighTV 3 жыл бұрын
It would depend on your lifestyle and how much you like to get out of the downtown part of the city which really isn't that large. It's definitely possible for someone who works in that area or from home, but it could be challenging because you'd be limited to downtown Raleigh unless you take a bus or Uber.

You will get stared down. People turn their heads just to stare at me. Durham has nicer less racist people. More Hispanics too. Raleigh, Cary, and chapel hill are all very white. Not much diversity. So far I've felt at home in durham. The people are sweet. It has some of its active areas, but it's not anywhere as bad as LA or the inland empire. Southern hospitality is real in Durham. People feel like family when you talk to them. I avoid Raleigh and Cary. They are aggressive drivers. A lot of confederate flags.

I'm originally from Detroit, MI currently in South Bend, IN. Considering a move to Raleigh. I don't want the huge city feel and all that comes with like Detroit but want more diversity in culture and social life which South Bend does not offer. I'm 40 years old, single, no kids, work in government, and love a new adventure. Could Raleigh be a good fit? My biggest concern is housing costs. Help me understand how Raleigh can be considered affordable and one of the best places to live with housing costs as you described. In South Bend I own my home a 3 bedroom, 1.5 bath, 1950's built with a basement that I bought for $88K in 2015. How do I wrap my head around going from a mortgage of under $700 to a 1 bedroom apartment over $1,000?! Understanding the situation in small town Indiana is different just like renting vs. buying is usually more as well?

DeAndra, you'll like it. Just make sure to have a job already lined up, because of current Covid economic stuff. We are growing fairly fast, and housing prices are a concern, but come down and check it out.
@LivinginRaleighTV
@LivinginRaleighTV 3 жыл бұрын
You might like Raleigh because it's a medium size city, but has most of the stuff that goes along with a major city, and plenty of places where you can live and still get the smaller city feel, with close proximity to larger cities of Raleigh or Durham. Part of the reason our housing cost has increased so fast is the desirability to live here. We aren't familiar with the market in your specific area, but I did a quick google search that showed our median household income is about 69% higher in Raleigh vs South Bend. So that would make sense why it also reflects on the cost of housing. It's really all relative, but we chose to put cost of housing as a con, because it tends to be higher in Raleigh than people tend to expect. But of course that all depends where people are coming from! I hope this helped! Let us know if you have any more questions. Also, you might find our "Where to live in Raleigh" or "best suburbs" videos helpful. We talk about median home prices in those videos to help you get a feel for what to expect in different areas. Definitely recommend you visit and see if you like the area! Thanks for your comment!

@@GUITARTIME2024 I definitely plan to do both! Just curious if the pay is commensurate with the cost of living. For instance, if I were to transfer my exact same government job to a NC location, my pay would not increase much so I'm not sure how I'd afford a 50% rent increase!
@GUITARTIME2024
@GUITARTIME2024 3 жыл бұрын
@@deandrakirkwood8319 i mean , in all honesty, this is a very good area, but just like in other cities, i would not necessarily live in this or that neighborhood because of cheap rent, because you will feel like you are in the same type of neighborhood back home that you probably chose not to live in. go to Google Maps on your computer, and put a star on Cameron Village, Crabtree Mall, North Hills Lassiter and the Glenwood South corridor. Those are 4 solid areas with apartments nearby that you will like, but true, rent is not cheap...As far as pay, I'm not sure, especially regarding state jobs. I think there were websites to compare that.
