I've been here 15 years. The hottest summer I experienced it got to 49 degrees for a few days back in 2013. I used to put my pillow in the freezer for a couple of hours before going to bed. AND I didn't have AC back in those days. Utter nightmare!

Where have you been shopping? Fresh strawberries, in Mellieha, where I live, are between 2 and 2.5 euro. Go to a small market. A lot of them are owned by farm families. I am able to eat things here that I gave up 10 or more years ago, when I lived in the States. Just bought broccoli and mushrooms yesterday. Like having diamonds and rubies, except they are edible. 40C may seem hot to someone who grew up in Britain, but it is normal for people like me. All a matter of what you're accustomed to. But I don't like the damp in winter.

I was thinking the same about the weather 😭. I live in a country where it is normal for the temperature to he 47,48 degrees Celsius in the summer so it getting to 40 rarely is fine for me!

@@porucznikkundlewicz5218 If I properly understood what you meant, you are more than right. The Maltese people never really fought for the independence of their country, except simply following orders from their respective rulers. Unless we mention a few daring individuals who had a completely different vision from the rest of the population (which was always the vast part of the population). And in fact, those few individuals, were always seen as "traitors" from all the real traitors totally lacking from true morals and principles which were needed back then. And the above is said from a Maltese person.

Perth in Western Australia sounds very similar regarding hot weather. We often get 88C-42C or sometimes higher.. during summer. Not much rain if any during summer. I’ve had a gut full of the heat. I can’t handle humidity so, I think if I go to Malta it will only be for a visit. My granny was Maltese.

Where did you buy your strawberries from? If from supermarkets, then yes, they would be pricey, especially during off-season. But when they're in season you can find them for half that price at the farmer's market in Ta' Qali. They also sell plenty of locally grown produce for less than you'd find in a shop :)

Other cons: - the petards during festas. These things are unbearable. It's like the Blitz. I dunno how old people don't have heart attacks cos you can feel the windows shake! - the size of the island; it can make you feel isolated and claustrophobic - lack of greenery/parks Other pros: - food portions at restaurants: very generous! - history - people speak English + Italian

Hello! As far as I'm aware, part time jobs are very common as long as you look in the right places. Facebook pages such as 'jobs in malta' are great places to start looking for any kind of employment 😊

What’s a walkable neighborhood in Malta
@tessamay3753
@tessamay3753 Жыл бұрын
It depends on your definition of walkable hahah. But the nicest areas to walk around are Sliema (it has a big promenade along the front as well as lots of shops/a shopping mall - but it means it's usually busy), Valletta is classed as a city so there's city toll for cars, which means it's quite nice to walk around there (again, can be busy). And really any smaller/seaside towns like Mellieha, St Pauls Bay. But those are just from personal experience, I don't really go to the south that much, but I'm sure there's lovely walkable neighborhoods there too.

how about the constant hunting, killing of birds, shooting noise, and construction in Gozo, no one ever talks about this and I wish I knew before moving there, don't recommend, also trash on beaches and streets in Gozo

I'm not so knowledgable on Gozo as I've not lived there. But totally agree! Even hunting is a problem in Malta too, its so sad ☹

No rude people? I live in Malta and I am used to people arguing with each other even if they are complete strangers

Nah, they're probably good friends arguing about soccer or justifiably complaining about the uncontrolled hordes of rude, entitled foreigners.

Can't say I've ever experienced something like that, I've found everyone I've met here to be very kind 😊 but I guess it's the same with anywhere you go, I don't think anywhere on earth is 100% free of rude people 😅🤷🏼‍♀️
