Protest broke out in Oyo State, South-West Nigeria, on Monday, over high cost of living, food inflation and the current economic hardship in the country.
Staged in the Mokola area of Ibadan, the state capital, placard-carrying youths in their droves chanted songs to drive home their points.
Some of the placards have inscriptions such as ‘End food hike and inflation’, ‘The poor is starving’, ‘Tinubu, don’t forget your promises’, amongst others.

The Nigerian impediment has transcended the boundaries of civilised and peaceful protest. The only remedy to the ailment that plaques our Nigeria is taking the bull by the horn, peaceful protest has proven in the past to be futile. Even in civilised and democratic systems where the concept peace protest emerged it never had effect, a prototypical example is MLK who was later assassinated. The oppressor will do everything within their means to maintain this status quo. Freedom has a price and Nigeria is yet to pay the price for it.

Truth be told, majority of Nigerian voters (regardless of tribe) DID NOT VOTE for Tinubu. To be frank, over 60% of Yorubas, 25-30% of Huasas (which was enough split btw Datti-Ahmed, Atiku, Shittima and Kwankwaso) did Vote for Peter Obi & the Labour Party. Unfortunately, INEC chairman, Yakubu stole OUR MANDATE and gave it to APC and Tinubu. 🤬

So long as no part of yorubaland is used as a springboard for any opposition sponsored protests. We had enough of these over the years, let the sponsors target other parts of nigeria. Things are hard for us now but let other parts of the country be used this time around. It's obvious that the past election loss residues are still very much with us.
