Scale model kits take a long road from initial design to injection molded plastic, and we check out a few of the prototype steps along the way before they hit your home cutting mat. Moebius Models shares with us a 3D printed prototype of a Star Trek starship, die-cast pieces of the Flying Sub from Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea, and production samples for the long-awaited Discovery One from 2001: A Space Odyssey!

I hope it's affordable. Moebius isn't known for high quality or being competitively priced. It certainly looks like they are addressing the quality aspect. Not holding my breath on the price.

I am definitely showing my age but, that flying sub model looks like it will be awesome. I watched Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea and a kid in the 60's. I made my own model of the Seaview and that flying sub out of modeling clay.

Norm is far more charismatic when his passion comes through. I understand some of the dislike for him (awkward pointing etc) Though I feel he has a place on Tested when his enthusiasm is real.

I was interested in making a diorama of the Firefox on the ice sheet with the submarine (Mother One). I contacted Moebius models about trying to get just the conning tower of their Skipjack submarine for this 1/72 build. I told them I didn’t need a 40” sub, just the conning tower. They wrote back and said they couldn’t help me. Not sure why, but I think that says a lot about their customer service.

That USS Franklin is 1/144 scale??????? Its fucking tiny. If that's 1/144, the USS franklin is no bigger than an EasyJet Airbus A319

I like the content, but Norm, don't drink so much coffee, Red Bull, or Monster Drinks before you interview. You are CONSTANTLY moving and it is annoying.
