In spanish It may also sounds weird, yet is so beautiful and so sad to loose the chance to read it just because you don´t speak french. Although, it could be also a good reason to learn french.

@dancar567 Have you ever read Marcel Proust in french the original language , the original words , the words he personally chose ? Even though the translation is very good , nothings like the orginal . it's like reading Shakespeare translated into french .

I've read "À la recherche du temps perdu" in French and yes, It sounds quite weird in English..."Traduttore, traditore". It's always so. Nevertheless, Mr. Jason has a beautiful voice.

I think what he was describing here, unknowingly, were the biochemical rewards he experienced, produced by the caffeine, sugar, refined carbs and dairy. The diminishing returns he describes are part and parcel of it. There was no scientific understanding like there is today as to the powerful influence foods exert over our mental state. Sugar is as addictive as cocaine apparently and dairy and caffeine produce a unique kick of their own that most of the planet is addicted to. Some cocaine addicts describe "feeling like a king" whilst on a cocaine high. So qualifying altered states of consciousness as being 'profound' gets problematic.
