Heidi you've gotten me hooked on gold dust. I may use it as a border forever. It was so beautiful last year i had to have it again! Love to hear you singing its praises. Would love to see a video on how you guys manage bugs, especially on petunias. I had a terrible time with mine last year. I previously was a sevin dust user but ive been trying not to use that.

To be honest( knock on wood) we don't have much bug problems that we need to treat for. We had budworms for the first time last year around Labor Day so we just dumped the baskets.

You all are very good with these garden beds you put together. I like almost all of the plants, but I'm really impressed this year with my candy corn spirea. They seem very healthy and the color show is fantastic for a smaller spirea. I know you aren't much of an orange color fan, but it would look so good in the garden with a splash of orange, lol! 😉

Do you prune the boomerang Lilac after it is done with first blooms or do you leave them? I’m not sure when to prune it to keep blooms coming all season.

Yes you can trim lightly after its first round of blooms. It is not necessary but I feel you get more reblooms this way.

I think Storm Cloud for its dark spring stems and periwinkle blue blooms and String Theory is nice for its fall foliage interest.

If need be give them a light trim and fertilize. Usually this does the trick.

My guess on how many plants in that entrance area is based on one plant in one pot kinda situation as you didn't state if they were singular plants in those pots or not and I can't tell on camera lol so i may be miles off if there is multiple in each 😂 so I'm gonna guess 318 plants or 954 plants if there is 3 in each pot to make them look full instantly

The PW ones are self cleaning. No dead-heading required.

These aren't your grandmas petunias 😄 Supertunias are sterile and do not need to be deadheaded. They are self cleaning. Seed petunias are the ones that need to be deadheaded to keep blooming.
