Just got one of these. It's a fabulous little saw. Very well made and extremely accurate right out of the box.

Thanks for all your videos Harris. I've built myself a similar sled now. Also going to add a plexi glass shield. Sometimes pieces fly towards me when I cut them. Take care!

amazing accessory, for an exceptional saw. I’m just starting to try cutting Aluminium, 5mm angle and 1.5mm sheet. It cross cuts, rips and even precision slots the stock with ease. I was cautious because many warn against thin sheet, but the FET Carbide blade, cuts it like softwood, literally one of the finest tools on the market. Am definitely gonna make a sled like yours, brilliant use of T track.💪💪💪🥰🤣❤️

That sled looks awesome. I want to build one for my Proxxon FET and looking at your video I wonder what is the diameter of that disk? What is the max cut height you can do with the sled? Thanks, amazing work!
@Harris-DIY4 жыл бұрын
Paulo Abreu Saw heights are 18-21mm depending on the saw blade used. In this video you can see a couple of dimensions giving an idea of the size kzfaq.info/get/bejne/fpNxiKWJybyroYE.html it can be made larger or smaller depending on what you want and how much space there is where it should be used. I would recommend that you start by making a smaller one that should only be able to save in 90˚ - not 89.9 or 90.1 - there are many videos on KZfaq showing how to test. A small, well-functioning cross cut sled will be a great help when building a larger one with more features.

Hi, Just bought the Proxxon Fet table saw and have been watching youtube for ideas on how to build a cross cut sled, yours looks to be one of the better sleds, just wondering if you have any plans for making it and also what size are the aluminium tracks and where did you buy them from, thanks in advance and keep up the good work, THANKS
@Harris-DIY6 ай бұрын
I don't have any drawings, but you can find all measurements in the videos on the channel. The aluminum rails are curtain rails bought from the curtain shop JYSK, which is available in many countries (they are cheap and work well)

Hi Harris, I have build the Cross Cut Sled for my Proxxon FET according to your informations and it is amazing. But now I have a question to you: In the video you show two movable swivel downholders. I want to build these too. Could you please give some instructions and the dimensions? That would be great. Bernd

Thanks for your comment, I hope your cross cut sled works as expected. I make the stop blocks from 3.1 x 16 mm. wooden strips and a small piece of aluminum pipe, see photo here kzfaq.info/get/bejne/fpNxiKWJybyroYE.htmlsi=J32WKTtALjpO_Oyk but you must measure the exact measurements on your own sled.

I really like your videos and now I am planning my own cross-cut sled. I have one question: what kind of wood would you recommend for making the rails that guide the sled along the table saw? I guess hard wood, but anything special?
@Harris-DIY3 жыл бұрын
Der Klausemann You will not regret it, it makes your saw much better. I have used oak but have heard that bamboo should be good but I have not tried it yet.
@Klausemann663 жыл бұрын
Thanks! I will also try oak, as I have some leftover wood. I was wondering how you assembled the rails so precise. Did you measure the distances and then mark and glue them into position or is there a special hack? I really want this sled to cut perfect 90° cuts.
@Harris-DIY3 жыл бұрын
Klausemann66 Once you have made the two guide rails so that they fit exactly into the grooves on the table, put some small pieces of thin cardboard in the bottom of the grooves so that the guide rails come about 0.5 mm above the table top, put glue on the rails and lay the plate to your Cross Cut Slide over to fit with the saw's table top. When the glue is dry, you have a plate that runs parallel to the saw blade and then you build the rest from it.
@Klausemann663 жыл бұрын
@@Harris-DIY I'll try that. Thanks a lot. Have a wonderful weekend!

@@Harris-DIY I did download the sled, jig and stopblok. only problem I don't know how to use sketchup.is there a drawing with measurements? If not, how many cm are the ledges with the storage boxes next to the blade guard. From the video with the pictures it looks like 2cm but that seems to me a little small.

@@Harris-DIY So I have the main sled built and doing a few of the accessories ideas you have but I can't stop wondering what are all the accessories you have in the boxes. Also, the one, looks like another stop Block but it looks straight without the bendable foot. I curious what the accessories are because I never used a cross cut sled before. Always did small cuts the hard way.
@Harris-DIY3 жыл бұрын
Steve Ward I often make something in series on many similar pieces and to get them exactly the same I first make special stop blocks and many times also templates. It saves a lot of time and gives a better result for larger productions, but when only one or two pieces have to be made, I only use the two standard stops. One problem with the many different help stops I have made is that when some time has passed I can not always remember how they were to be used.

@@Harris-DIY Did you end up making that video. I just got my saw today and the rails and guides are rubbish so would love to build one of these but need more detailed info on how you did it and where you got the metal parts
@Harris-DIY4 жыл бұрын
Andrew Cameron Start by building a simple model where you focus on being able to cut exactly 90˚ and the sled easily slides without a veil, the size is irrelevant. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/fth4o9J80biudKs.html kzfaq.info/get/bejne/qbBxmpCGkr6pdHk.html You can easily build one in one day and if it saves perfectly you will have good help with the final model. The aluminum rails are cheap curtain rods, they cost under $ 5 for 1.5 m

André Snelting Thanks for your comment, unfortunately I have none for sale but you can find many videos on KZfaq showing how it can be done.
