Thanks for demoing this amp with some humbucker tones. Besides Hendrix style tones which I heard in another demo video, I was interested to hear AC/DC and Joe Walsh style crunch tones through the amp. I love how the amp cleans up with lighter attack or turning down the guitar's volume knob.

Phenomenal Plexi Sounds at reasonable levels. Only $800.00 too. And an added master volume, mid/bright switches and internal treble/bass channel bridge. Indonesian built under PRS specs/standards. Better construction, design, build, and components than either the same price Marshall DSL-20 {which I love} or even a Marshall SV-20, but it comes in at less than half its price. Open them up and look inside for yourself if you don't believe me. Better layout, components, Pcb board, pots, etc. Made to last and be serviced rather than discarded for cost concerns. PRS and amp designer/guru Doug Sewell hit this one out the park. The 50watt and 100watt HDRX models are even nicer and USA built but much, much more expensive at approx. $2900 and $3150 respectively.

cause its made in indonesia ,50 and 100 watt made in usa , sound still amazing tho , my father in law bought the 50 watt one and im going to try next week

Wondering, does the master volume make this usable in a bedroom player application?

Yes and no, you can dial it in at bedroom volume but there will be little to no breakup. Like a Superlead circuit it gets it's break up primarily from the output tubes. I do know the "Mr.Scary Mod" is compatible with the HDRX20 and will add an extra preamp tube for more preamp gain more like a 2204 JCM800. It's an amazing amp tho! It's glorious so much so I sold my SV20. I feel the HDRX20 sounds more authentic to the vintage Superleads I've had the opportunity to play.

Can this amp handle running KT66 tubes? Hendrix did use JTM45 amps in addition to the 100 watt super leads. The JTM45 had KT66s in it and I’d be interested if it could work in this amp.

#Sweetwater are the pots and tube sockets PCB mounted or chassis mounted with flying leads like the 50 and 100..guessing PCB mounted??$$

The 20 is pcb but better pots. The 50 and 100 are chassis mounted. The boards and components are better quality/specs on either compared to their Marshall counterparts. The PRS are more true to the original late 60's and 70's Marshall design topology than the current Marshall's. Plus they boast a lower noise floor. Longevity mods like the original Hendrix Woodstock/stage amps had were also added as well as reading all the Hendrix components values which were transferred over to the PRS amps. The original transformers were painstakingly measured and recreated to that particular Woodstock/stage amp of Jimi's. It's as close as humanly possible to that one amp.

Is the master volume a headroom to Bedroom master volume that is where my interest lies in this particular amp I was going to grab a Morgan because of the solid-state rectifier, but this thing is at a great price I understand it’s foreign made, but it certainly looks like to me, and sounds like it will hold up to Some local gigging and plenty of bedroom practice work and it has the right sound for me. I am just curious about that master volume. Will it take it down to Sound lol. 4:21

Man the 513 can do everything well. If you ever get the chance try ya one, but head on over to the prs demo they use the silver sky!

It's an amp based on one he used purportedly at Woodstock. It's simply modelled off an amp he liked. This kind of mindset is what is killing anything new breaking through in the world of music....

If this amp had independent EQs for each channel, and an FX loop, it would probably be great. Big error from PRS leaving both out imo :)

@@the92project Yes we know but PRS are not selling this amp in 1970. The smart makers combine the retro tones with modern tech features. Contemporary buyers should expect to get the best of both eras and PRS have obviously done this in other aspects of the amp design.

@@rebelcat420 Even if you're correct about the space there's no need to put most of the overdrive in the power amp section. Mesa Boogie, and other makers, place most of it in the pre-amp.

It sounds OK, but, honestly, I don’t hear any resemblance to Jimi‘s tone. A Marshall SV20 is a lot closer.

its too americanized... ya can hear the difference, sounds good though, but its definitely not the same as a Hendrix Amp!!, because i played on the real deal.

It's truly ridiculous how many musical product companies use Jimi's name to attempt to sell products - products that do not even come remotely close to having a Jimi Hendrix sound. In my opinion, no one but Marshall, maybe, deserves the right to go tearing into Jimi's original equipment to try and copy what they find so they can apply their discovery to their own product and then stamp Jimi's name on it, regardless of the end result. It's not right. This amp sounds nothing like Jimi - not at Woodstock - not anywhere else.

Concur 100%. Especially when Jimi had nothing to do with the manufacture and it was founded 15 (?) years AFTER Jimi's date of death (?) The marketing words of 'Heavily/Hendrix inspired' just doesn't do it..Each to their own though.

As a guitar pickup manufacturing company, I feel very much the same. The amount of Page and Duane-buckers, Greenes, Moores, and any other pickup that implies that person used it is laughable and shameful. If they didn't use your equipment, don't use their name.

For the love of god...put a strat or at least a Silver Sky into it! The PRS sounded nice but nothing like Jimi's "Woodstock tone" at all. I have 4 amplifiers in my backroom that sound as good. Channel 1 or 2 on my EVHIII EL-34 COMBO...My modded Carvin MTS-3200 through a 4/12 greenback cab. What a botched presentation

Sorry but putting HDRX and a picture of Hendrix on the amp doesn’t qualify it for his tone. Not even close. Maybe using a Strat would have sold me. HOWEVER it seems like a great amp for a great price….just doesn’t sound like Jimi’s guitar tone 🤔

aside from maybe the MT.. why can they only make amps with bloated muddy low end? Jimi never sounded so bad.
