I agree with everyone. The background music gave the video a nice feel, but was maybe a BIT loud. So if you decide to add ambient music to more videos (even ones without loud neighbors) I'm here for it, just maybe a touch quieter! =] Excited to see this privet's journey!

Agreed. The music was really distracting. To be honest, I would much prefer neighborhood background noise, even if it was kinda loud. Real-life sounds are ok! We’re all just chillin in the bonsai zone (aka Nigel’s back yard)

maybe totally mute the background and do voice over. more work for you, but probably a better product. I also found the music too distracting.

Yes, I have a problem with the music. I find it distracting and, sometimes irritating.

Root pruning and top pruning can actually be beneficial to the plants long term!

@@TheBonsaiZone but the thing is- they literally bursted in growth within a week. Both roots and twigs. Like a fireworks.

@@TheBonsaiZone Fifty years ago I was working at a local feed & seed company. Our store manager was 89 years old and had been in the business since the thirties. Every spring we had a nursery in the back. We would order in hundreds of bare-root fruit and ornamental trees for resale. The first thing the manager would do, as we unpacked them, was to cut all the roots on each tree back to about nine inches long. He had learned that from an even older mentor who had learned to do it back in Germany. The benefit was that the roots would begin branching out as soon as the trees were planted and broke dormancy. It must have worked, because he had a lot of farmers who came back every year when they expanded their orchards. From him, I learned that root pruning during dormancy actually helps a transplanted tree catch hold and grow much faster. Also the farmers didn't have to twist the trees' roots around each other to make them fit in the holes.

It depends on what kind of a tree it is! For a hardy tree it might be too late, for a tropical, it's a good time. You can pull the tree out of the pot and check if the root tips are active. You will see white root tips growing if the roots are active, this generally means it's too late. If the roots look dormant, it's safe to re pot!

So far, I haven't seen any problems with the tree, I think both have similar over wintering requirements. We'll have to wait and see what the future has in store!
