There's not a hint of sarcasm, irony, or hyperbole when I say I spent roughly a week tinkering with a cheese strategy against this hellspawn of a boss, successfully employed it, refined it, and perfected it, then spent roughly two months writing a script and shooting footage for a video demonstrating how to do it, and then waiting another two months for a good friend of mine to get around to editing it. That's how little I wanted to fight this thing legitimately because I knew the experience would be fucking miserable.

It was like the easiest boss on my playthrough. Frost armor + flask of cursed flames + shadow flame knives + golden shower + every buff I had. +the seed has like a million heart statues everywhere that trivialize boss fights. Once the destroyer body is gone the rest of it is easy because the AI for skeletron prime is nerfed on it. The devs also just really drop the ball on making hard mode bosses harder in FTW Master Mode in general so all the hard mode bosses are much easier than you expect.

Honestly wasn’t all too bad. It kinda was the same as the regular Mech bosses, in the sense that it felt impossible to beat because it was a big gear check in disguise. Once you had the right stuff, it was considerably easier. Though there were some attacks it had that were nearly impossible to avoid without a Rod of Discord.

@@CraftsmanOfAwsomenesIdk what you expected from legendary mode bosses, but they were plenty difficult. It’s not like it was trying to be on the same level as Calamity, because vanilla Terraria is more than a boss fight simulator at the end of the day.

Legendary mode Mechdusa is definitely the hardest vanilla boss in Terraria. I was really only able to defeat it because I somehow despwaned every mech except the destroyer. Then I beat the boss with boss with post-mech loot

Skeletron Prime and Twins despawn based on distance while Destroyer doesn't; this means you can reliably isolate Destroyer just by teleporting away and waiting for him to show up again. In terms of hardest boss, also consider fighting legendary Eater of Worlds with "normal" stuff you would have at that progression (so no demon scythe for instance).I beat that one by accidentally despawning some boss portions when my arena wasn't actually covered enough in the biome.

I also haven't been able to replicate it since, leaving me confused. At this point teleporting away from Mechdusa has just despawned the whole thing in my experience. Maybe you could isolate a boss if you only bring parts of Mechdusa on-screen then teleport away? Bosses can't despawn until they come on-screen first, at least in GFB.

I think while it makes sense, and I was wondering the same thing, Spawning all three at once and then fighting full strength non-tethered bosses is arguably cooler
