Took a gas bus out for a spin today. This is one of the first few to arrive in the area from the factory. This bus has not yet been prepped by the dealer, forgive the mess.

Love the new engine in these buses. I’m curious to see our 2019 fleet hit the roads.

Man, you have an armrest on the right side of your seat. I'm driving a 2019 IC CE bus right now and there's not an arm rest and I'm a fat guy so when I make those left turns gravity wants to pull me to the right lol I gotta keep myself in the seat and take the turns nice and slow.

It seems like they sound different from the gasoline powered from the 80s and 90s. Those I know had a whining sound from the engine fan on them.

When I rode these hearing the engine and whine sound is the best part 😎

Love the sound of that starter.

I suspect that the DEF being used on newer diesel engines explains why they are bringing back gasoline school buses. I know some transit authorities are using CNG and they also make tractor trailers available in CNG lately. And you do have to pay per gallon for DEF.

The DEF isn't so much the issue as the emissions systems themselves. The stop and go nature of school bus service means the engines don't get hot and aren't able to properly go through the regen process.
@MrWill19856 жыл бұрын
@@KodieS the regen does take about 30-45 minutes. I've had to do them before on trucks

What type of gas does the PSI 8.8 V8 take? Regular (87), Plus (89), or Premium (91-93)?
@KodieS5 жыл бұрын
@@CentralJerseyRailfan Regular 87.

Them roads almost as bad as our Michigan roads! Lol. That engine definitely sounds interesting, kinda reminds me of the engine in the Chevy vans. How’d you get the camera to stay up there like that?

I used my phone, and wedged it in behind the roof hatch bracket.

I guess it's normal for the check engine light to flash once you start the engine. The Transtar and Prostar does it.

I imagine it's part of a self test.

That makes sense. All of the Internationals I drove mostly are either Maxxforce 13 or Navistar N13 and I hear alot of bad things about Maxxforce. Although I did drive a couple of Cummins LTs and a Cummins Prostar last year.

Wow, that's quiet. Reminds me of a Cummins even though it's gas. Is it quieter? How's the power compare?
