Man I remember spending months researching for a psu for my new build. I went for a gold rated Seasonic 1000w. The warranty is what did it for me. 10 years. My old pc actually had a Novatech black edition modular 80 rated psu. It never failed!! They are rare. They stopped making those yet it still works. I know coz my son is using my old am3 machine.

my last six builds have all been Seasonic Platinum PSUs. in 2012 i built a 3x gtx780 SC sli rig. that machine is still running today with its original 1300 Platinum in it. the machine has only had maybe a total of 1 day off time in its lifetime for cleanings and is used for my CNC today where it was my main modelling and rendering machine for 8 years. Today i run an X570 Proart 5950x 128gb rtx 4080 with a Platinum 1250 Seasonic PSU. I trust Seasonic for any machine that never gets turned off.

Can I ask do you use hybrid mode on fans(0rpm mode) I just read seasonic recommends turning off hybrid mode when psu is facing fan intake down, or put psu fan facing upwards to let heat rise. I turned of the hybrid mode now and there was supricing amount heat coming out when pc was idle.

IMO as a CREATOR always get a 80+ Gold PSU that overprovisions your power usage needs by at least 100w and is extremely quiet under MAXIMUM LOAD even if it costs $20-$30 more than the 80+ bronze (or even other 80+ Gold) alternatives that happen to be loud as hell. My Recomendations: -DeepCool DQ850-M (850w) -Enermax REV DF (850w) -Super Flower Leadex III Gold (850w) -Fractal Design Ion+ 2 Platinum (860w) -Asus ROG THOR 1000P2 (1000w) -Corsair HX1000i (newer 2022 model, 1000w) -BeQuiet! Dark Power Pro 12 (1200w) -Corsair HX1500i (newer 2022 model, 1500w) -BeQuiet! Dark Power Pro 12 (1500w) -Asus ROG THOR 1600T (1600w) EDIT: You can check out Cybenetic Labs for the most extensive PSU reviews/tests for the english language.

Great info. I'm about to start a pc build & aiming for similar to your $1000 build. But I'm not sure which monitors to go for. I would like to have a twin monitor setup. But what size is better (24 Vs 27) & which is best bang for buck. I will be using the pc, mainly for creating & some light gaming (Xbox). Could you please make a vid of your recommendations & what to look out for, when buying a monitor. Thanks 👍🍺

Thank you for the video. When I look at the rumors a 4090ti could go up to 600Watt a new CPU 13900k up to 350Watt, and soon a 5090ti or a 14900k will need more, so I guess for a new creators PSU for >=8K and with a wish to upgrade in 2-3 years to a 5090ti I should calculate at least with a 1200Watt PSU. I hope there will also be less power-hungry 20GB GPu's or that a 16GB 4080 will handle 8K-RAW flawless. Hope also that you will get early new CPU's and GPU's as your testings will be relevant for my next PC building steps, my existing 5900x with a 3090 is ok but when mixing 8K-RAW from a R5 and a R5C and 4K-120fps H.265 then the playback without proxies is not so nice to work with and a 12900k would be better but not where I want it. From your Infos I already think that a 1200Watt Gold PSU will replace my existing with 850Watt :-).

Good video. One thing I would add is that while warranty is generally an indication of quality, that only applies to reputable brands. In the case of a cheap unknown brand that will never honour the warranty, the warranty means absolutely nothing... They could slap a 20 year warranty on cheap product and then just change their name after a couple of years. A lot of Chinese companies do that.

plus some of the pin outs of the actual power supply are different so if purchasing custom cables the model of the power supply has to be giving the the cable maker.

Actually for the waranty, you need to make sure the PSU manufacturer also has an office near your residential or it'll be a hassle or worse you wont even have a place to claim warranty

back in the days i used a FSP for almost 15years without any problem. Than sold with the 5th build.(CORSAIR WORKS FINE AS WELL FOR YEARS NOW)! BTW i killed EVGA and 1 more (idk the name...) in 1-2 years... :D No more EVGA for me :D good video like everytime!

That you SO much for this info about warranty terms. I had no idea that this wasn't an industry standard. I noticed that Silverstone PSU's have *terrible* warranty terms - max 5 years, some as low as 1. Corsair PSU's all seem to have 7-year warranty terms. I'm really going to lean into 10-year terms, especially since I tend to recycle and reuse my parts until they have absolutely no life left in them at all.

Hello, I have a EVGA supernova 1300 g2 from 2014. I am upgrading from x99 board to z690. Could you please tell me how much wattage one 8pin EPS (CPU) output with the original EVGA cable produces? On the internet some people say 336w, some say 280w, and some say over 400w, depending on the quality of the cable used to supply the power. This information would help me a lot as I'm using the 13900k cpu and want to make sure i have enough wattage. My board has a 8 plus 4 pin cpu connection, but i don't have the extra eps cable to connect to the 4 pin. Thank you in advance for your help.

I always go with either Seasonic or EVGA, but many others are very good. FSP, Superflower, High Power and Seasonic are the main OEM's for all the companies that don't make their own, like Corsair, EVGA etc.

I've used mostly FSP Group, but my recent build I am using the Super Flower Leadex Platinum 1000w Platinum Plus. I remember at a time, long time ago, when FSP Group had a bad rep for faulty PSUs. My last rig had one and it lasted me 13+ years. So I personally have never had a problem until it started to fail due to it's age and usage for so long. But I think 13+ years of heavy use is more than enough.

CWT also is a BIG OEM that a lot of companies use. Some of Corsair's best units are CWT, like the HXi series.

EVGA changes it's maker like every generation. G3 was Superflower, G5 was FSP, G6 is Seasonic. Honestly I think I just prefer to buy a Superflower or Seasonic PSU and cut out the middleman.

9:06 Sorry, I think it can be a pretty bad advice in doubtful situations! If I would have any doubt, I would check the manufacturer site for pictures rather the retailer's pictures. The pictures may not be accurate and the retailer can even declare that somewhere in the terms that it does not take responsibility for that. While if the product description/manufacturer code on the retailer website matches the manufacturer's one, but what you receive is not matching what is described on the manufacturer's website, you can return the product claiming it is not what it should be and I think such complaint must be accepted.

1.5 and 2x is way top big, because psu powercurve are in BEST 80-90% draft. You Burn 750w psu with 300w consupt because it will work 60% efiency making 200w heat 😮

If most people mount their PSU in the bottom, and most people mount the fan down, I wonder why most manufacturers print their graphics in the same orientation on both sides. Nothing distracts me more when looking at a build that upside-down PSU graphics. Your eye is going straight to that defect every time you look at the computer.

My recently purchased Thermaltake Toughpower GF1 650W has its graphics printed both ways except for the back side where the switch and connector are. That's not why I bought it but I thought it was interesting.

I prefer Super Flower or Seasonic PSUs. They are both known to be very good quality and reliable, and good enough that they actually make many of the PSUs for other companies. EVGA for example, their G2 and G3 PSUs that had really good reviews back in the day, those were made by Super Flower; their much newer G6 that also has good reviews is made by Seasonic. Why buy an EVGA PSU when you can just cut out the middle man and buy one that's made directly by Super Flower or Seasonic?

Everyone skip from 11:30 to 14:32. He has no idea what he is talking about at this point in the video. 8 pins can supply 300w not only 150w. You can run the daisy chain no problem. Jay2cents addresses this also multiple times. Also why corsair and other brands can do the 2-8pin to one 12pin and offer the full 600w.

to be honest I look for this and let disappointed. Any amateur can find psu calculator but nobody actually bothers explaining to the metal. Can somebody make a crash course about voltage and pc components, especially the spike in voltage usage. Else, it's not interesting to care

This title stretches the "creators" gimmick. There isn't a psu "for creators," there r only PSUs. TN has over-gimmicked me again, just like how u over-advertized 12th gen. I see ur starting to get more favor from manufacturers. Why wouldn't u, u just advertise whether it's good or not, like Linus. That's why ppl hate on Linus. I'll trust GN and Buildzoid, they actually eat, breathe, test, and study this 24/7; I regret buying the last PSU TN told me was great.
