Rain came in while we were getting pictures of the 1970 Summernationals winner 426 Hemi Superbird so we wanted to make the most of it all with some watery fun. If you have any questions about the cars, feel free to let us know!

Let's hope whoever owns this Superbird, now, and into the future, keeps the cool custom paint. There are plenty of Superbirds restored back to stock. And I love them too. But there aren't that many with custom paint.

We met Bob, the owner at a cruise-in with this car... He says he has no intentions of ever changing it. He has done mechanical work to make it drive safely, but plans on leaving the paint as it is. He invited my 9 year old daughter to sit on the wing, and even let her sit in it while he fired it up. He warned her that it was loud... I just chuckled... As we had come to the cruise-in in my 455 Vista Cruiser with headers and flowmasters... She's used to loud... LOL

Hi, Just found this article on Google news then watch the car on KZfaq then brings back memories for when I was living near RAF Alconbury in England UK back in the late 60s 70s I die on the base at a road runner in black he lived a few doors away from me in a small village called Brampton. It was a very impressive car not sure what motor he had in it, At the time I had a Pontiac Parisienne this only had a small block Chevy had a 4 barrel Holly parted on the top, with thrush header mufflers, Keep up the great work stay safe. When I was a kid, our neighbor owned a Plymouth dealership, so he would often bring cars home. I still remember when he brought a bright yellow Superbird home. Wow, it was like seeing a space shuttle parked in their driveway, or like an exotic Hot Wheels car come to life. It spent most of its time as a “halo car” in the front window of the dealership.

HaHaHA!!! That's great! My daughter will get a kick out of this. She still mentions the "Roadrunner car" that we saw at the cruise-in occasionally. Hope you make it back up to Franklin again this summer!

The point wasn't to do a burnout-it's raining! It was to NOT do a burnout and to just have some fun.
@carmudgeon7478 Жыл бұрын
Mr. Jennings, that was wheel spin not a burnout.😉 Impossible to avoid with a Hemi, slicks, and water. Might want to check for a bent wheel or tweaked axle flange.

The 1970 body frsign alone. Then add the insane at least for the street superbird modifacations. Too short a season for suck great mopar history. I was born in 1964 so I was able to see these versions of designs as I grew alobf too.

Yes, but it's a lame Toyota. This is an iconic muscle car with custom paint. But you probably wouldn't understand. You'd have to know about muscle cars.
@grntitan12 жыл бұрын
@@bradbroemmer9106 Well Brad, as a matter of fact I am very well versed in muscle cars. Spent a lot of years working in a machine shop. So to elaborate, that 500+ HP 426 Hemi in this “iconic” muscle car should have been more impressive. It wasn’t. And that paint is ridiculously stupid.

Ever try driving a car with drag slicks on wet pavement? Its actually very hard not to spin them and keep the car going straight.

Lol. As a lifelong muscle car nut, believe me when I say that it's worth much more than any car you own. And if you don't believe me then watch a Barret Jackson auction and observe the prices on Plymouth Superbirds.

I'm very disappointed with this. It's a cool story and all but come on guys?all that building up to the video and letting us all down very very hard... you all should be ashamed of yourselves. I can SPIN MORE TIRES THAN THAT WITH MY LAWNMOWER!!!! That went from " Superbird " to "SuperBLAH".

Who put that shty paint job on it, they just ruined the value of the car, Hemi or not, someone must have Sht for Brains!!!
@indianadave88812 жыл бұрын
That paint job is straight out of the 70's... It was a race car back then. Now, among all of the restored Superbirds, this paint job is what sets this one apart... I talked to Bob at a cruise-in, and he has no intentions of ever changing it... I couldn't agree more. If he does, it just becomes another restored Superbird.
@curtismiller85292 жыл бұрын
Ask anyone who owns a Superbird Dave, those cars are icons of only one year of production. If he likes it like that then so be it, my opinion, it looks like some 17 year old kid got a hold of it, Yuck!!!
@indianadave88812 жыл бұрын
@@curtismiller8529 that's your opinion... If you see the car in person, that paint job is awesome. It's got patina, and it's amazing it survived all these years. I guarantee if you park this car in a show with 25 other Superbirds, this one will get all the attention. And the fact that this is a car you can let kids sit in and beep the horn and not worry about. Bob even asked if my 8 year old wanted to sit on the wing. I politely declined that offer for her. To each their own, but I'll take a custom painted survivor over an over-restored show car any day.

I hate to tell you this but that paint job on that SuperBird looks like some 17 year old kid got a hold of in his backyard with a couple of cans of spray paint an did a sycopathic paint be job on it.!!! Oh yeah, sure??? It looks great coming out of the Barrio Latinos love that stuff. Hey why don't you line the tops of the windows with those little round tassels hanging down, it will fit right in the neighborhood! HA, HA, what a waste of a once nice car. YUCK!!!
