Also the way society shames men for being virgins at any age greatly contributes to the ease with which one can become an incel.

So unattractive males who are unrepresented in society in media/film (framed as the hunk not underdog) a society where women judge each other based on what their boyfriends look like, unattractive men recieve less social opportunities, average less pay/promotions, lower grades in college, treated worse than attractive people who have pretty priviledge. Those men should just 'suck it up' - i wonder if we should have told black people the same thing? Yes incels are hateful and their groups are ridiculous but part of me thinks there is a level of truth in their perspective. I've personally ran Tinder studies as an unattractive male and the women of this generation only care about looks. Saying its ok to be a virgin is one thing, but we should also be blurring the line on what is considered attractive, whether its believeable or not, and in hollywood nothing is accurate to real life.

@@MrmeSmiley But really...I don't think the internet "creates" incels. It gives the already existing incels a place to be and more visibility. Also I don't really like the concept of the root cause of something being a reaction. In order to become an incel you probably failed at dating for a relatively long time and missing a milestone is just what pushed you over the edge. The root cause would be your faillures/whatever caused those failures in the first place and the feelings of inadequacy came as a result of that.

The word is literally the definition. I always felt I was something like this before I even knew about any movements. It was more just a realization, women either hate me for being alive or completely indifferent to my existence. Yet I saw guys who almost never say a word or make any waves just have women groupies stick to them. Female attraction is very hard to boil down, but it's mostly in the face and % of other genetic factors. You can look "alright" like Eliot Rodger and still not get anything because I believe that sexual attraction facially is more than just looking like a pretty boy.

I understand the advice to get out there and try, but my question is "and do what?" Like, genuinely. I'm as shy and socially awkward as they come, I don't feel conformable in any situation where there are people, heaven forbid strangers. How am I supposed to perform at my best socially with a potential life partner when I'm busy staving off anxiety attacks?
@wanderingrandomer
@wanderingrandomer 3 жыл бұрын
Even when I'm feeling OK out and about, my instinct is to just stand in the corner and not say anything. I don't know how to not do that really. If I manage to have a basic conversation, I have to retreat to the corner to recover from it. The idea of sustaining that level of sociability with someone is exhausting just thinking about it. Sorry to go on.

@@wanderingrandomer This is going to sound trivial but I just want you to know I'm dead serious when I say this. Dude get a dog. There was a study that showed (forgive me for not posting the study I will have to find it again) that when individuals with autism were given therapy dogs they were able to find confidence in their social skills and were able to be less socially awkward. I can base this on my personal experience as well. Take your dog to the dog park/ dog beach everyday. Your dog depending on how friendly they are will walk up to the person and garner attention from them that's when you engage with the other person. Inquire about their dog, or talk about yours once you have a somewhat fluid conversation try to segway into another topic by inquiring more about the person but keep it on a casual level don't go to personal. I find that most of the people at dog parks are more open minded and love talking to people about their dogs and pets in general. Use this opportunity to learn how to socialize with people.

I feel like a big part of incels becoming a thing is because of people making it a popular thing to hate them on a wide public scale online. Like all the videos a year or so ago that was all about laughing at them. Or how "incel" is now a common insult, basically replacing the older "virgin". Basically, it's a problem created in large part by it being given massive exposure by people deciding to make them the focus of many a cruel joke, which does nothing but enflame the issue.

It could be argued that part of why incels became notorious was because of their community being sort of fellow travellers with Gamergate, PUA and the alt-right at a time when those things, and the backlash against the "manosphere" really blew up. Now, while I have some sympathy for people struggling to find partners, folks should remember that incels are being hated on for a reason. Their community features just about the vilest misogyny, and the conspiratory theories peddled in some incel circles is just about dressing hateful, entitled shit in a way that makes it seem okay to advocate for things like forcing women to date men or something because "they're the real victims of society". A community doesn't get to talk that kind of smack, and then expect compassion, sympathy or understanding.

That's a job for a therapist, or a social worker. And the ones perpetuating their own misery in their private circlejerk are incels themselves. They have the responsibility to own up to that, and break out. Nobody else. I don't advocate persecution of incels - I advocate rejection of their worldview. I advocate finding them an exit strategy, if you're in a position to do so and have the time and energy to do that. I'm not calling for raiding incel boards, or whatever. But I'm also calling for people at large to call them out on their bullshit, and ask them to get help in any way they can. @Pantsmonster it is their "fault" indeed. Or rather their responsibility, they're just not aware of what they're doing wrong. And by "they" I mean myself too. I'm basically a female incel who despite being objectively pretty and having had experiences, fell into a spiral of insecurity, self-loathing, narcissism and envy beyond belief, to the point that it completely changed my personality, outer behavior, destroyed my social skills and made me repulsive to others. Once again, as a pretty girl. This is what happens when along the way you completely lose touch with yourself. Others just respond to what they see and the problem is that what they see doesn't match what you see, due to them not knowing your story and your real self and you not being aware of how you come accross as you even forgot who you really are. A nice body without You in it is just an empty shell that you won't even enjoy having because you're blind to your own self, other people will feel it and react accordingly. Turn inward and re-find your true self first, the rest is an enhancement but will never be the cure.

I am 30 and i had what you would consider a very social life since i was 15 with many relationships along with a 4-5 year long one . I also had my insecurities along the way because i am just 1.70 cm tall among many others . I had what so many seem to look for and i gived it up because it felt boring an i would end up wishing i had more free time to enjoy hobbies and meeting more people plus i never desired children . Around the age of 26 biology kicked in harder stoppping the chimicals that were flushing into my brain making me so horny and filtering what i consider now pathetic to even do or chase ... I got my financial things in order and now i live with friends that enjoy a similar life style and i feel like i can do this for 100 years . So i do desire a guy like you if you find out what hobbies you have and feel the need to share . Most cool dudes feel like you and in reality they are perfect to hang out with :P

Hey (if you read this), seeing so many happy comments (and Dr. K's face) makes me happy, I hope y'all are doing okay fam! I'm no psychiatrist like Dr. K, but I just wanted to share some input I feel like maybe others relate to: I've never defined myself as an incel, but the more I learn about them, the more I realize I have related to them at some point (well I should specify: the non-violent, non-misogynistic type). When Dr. K talked about feeling subhuman, something clicked, bc I have been there before, for a lot of my life actually. There are many different reasons for ppl feeling this way, and I think many ppl go back to childhood experiences that made them feel like this. For me it was bullying, anger issues I had that were never properly addressed, and abuse I never spoke up about. But hey, even if you don't have a specific reason, your pain is still valid but you can also do something to change it (I'll leave what that thing is up to the experts and your personal thoughts). Also, I feel like we base too many of our milestones based on what we see on media. Like, for real, how many ppl ACTUALLY relate to teen movie rom-coms? Not many, I can tell you that. And it's important to understand that, ppl are living their life on different timelines with different priorities. And we as a society have to learn to accept each other for that rather than making ppl feel weird about it. I am 22 and have come to the realization that I am okay and normal for never having been on a date or had my first kiss- I had my struggles growing up, had to take some time to introspect and change, and have also been hellishly busy with academic pursuits. And I really freaking like being alone and thinking and working on random ass projects (hopefully one of which I'll finish at some point, lol). And guess what society? You don't need to depict a nerdy character like me as someone that needs to be "saved and mature" with the help of a romantic partner that probably doesn't exist in real life- I am the way I am and that's all and ain't nobody ever gonna change my nerdy tendencies bc I am proud of them. That is the timeline I operate on, and when I feel ready, I will make a move. Capeesh? Anyway I hope you felt better after reading this. Love you all, my beta-gene peeps ;)

It's important to note that research on incels is nascent and generally of poor quality. For example, the term "incel radicalization process," coined in 2020, was formed on the basis of analysis of a single reddit post on r/braincels, by researchers who even admitted to being biased: "the women researchers were often profoundly disturbed by the content of the transcripts. Besides, it was often hard for us to separate our personal views as women from the real voices of the commenters" (Maxwell, Robinson, Williams, & Keaton, 2020, p. 1869). The KZfaq study Dr. K. references, namely, Papadamou, Zannettou, Blackburn, De Cristofaro, Stringhini, and Sirivirianos (2021), is stronger, but their methodology and usage of charged language is highly questionable, given that they pared down the incels' lexicon and, at multiple times, used researcher discretion to determine if a video was incel-related or incel-derived. They also equivocated the degree of severity of the ideas within each category, leading to all videos in a category apparently having the same effect size in terms of radicalization. Perhaps the most telling aspect is that there have been literally zero studies done in which incels have been interviewed. In all the incel-related research, hypocrisies within the group as a collective have been ascribed to individual incels, treating the Elliot Rodgers of the world in the same terms as the average incel. It seems that researchers have refused to actually test to see if these group hypocrisies actually apply to individuals in the incel community. Note: I'm working on a paper on exactly this topic-lacunae within incel-related research-so I'm quite familiar with the particular studies Dr. K. is discussing. There's a lot more to the story, and of the "manosphere" in general. References: Maxwell, D., Robinson, S. R., Williams, J. R., & Keaton, C. (2020). “A short story of a lonely guy”: A qualitative thematic analysis of involuntary celibacy using Reddit. Men who are genetically unlucky are guaranteed to end up this way unless they find a partner. Those who are born short, ugly, into poverty, etc really have no chance other than extreme luck with dating. Otherwise it's loneliness, alienation, depression, suicide. The reality is that while inceldom is a mindset, it's caused and reinforced 100% by external factors. Men who face decades of rejection and shame for being born in a way that women hate and society mocks have very little chance of ending up happy and normal. Just the way it is.

Yeah, I haven't seen any youtube channels bring on attractive women to talk to them about their partner choices or rejections methods aside from the dating guru and male self help pages. There really is no accountability or discussion regarding how women are choosing partners nowadays. There are serious wide scale societal implications to these types of things. You can encourage young men all you want but the challenge is being amplified in our modern society in a way that our fathers/grandfathers never ever had to deal with.

You realise that there are ugly/poor/short women out there? Women who also aren't viewed as attractive and dont get approached like the incel woman who contacted Dr K? If a man needed to be handsome/rich/tall, in order to get "picked" to be in a relationship, more than half of the population would be single.
@theperfectbeing
@theperfectbeing 3 жыл бұрын
@@chocolatMouse You might want to look at the stats then because more than half the population is single in fact, last stat I read this year had young men and women at around 56% of them being single with no form of common law relationship. Which makes sense given than around that exact same percentage of households are also single mothers and in the some communities like the black community its as high as 72% single mothers. Then stack the divorce rate on top of that and realize that 56% single might actually be low balling it if young people are honest about their relationships. Also the stats done in the last decade show a drop in sexual activity across the board but upon further investigation showed that it was only a drop in male sexual activity but women remained fairly constant. How is that possible? Easy, a small percentage of men are now sleeping with all the available women due to the effects of dating apps. Women are attempting to date/sleep with men out of their league and then getting tossed aside and the other guys who aren't in the upper category of men have a substantially smaller dating pool. Look up male sexual activity decline, aslso this: www.washingtonpost.com/lifestyle/2019/03/21/its-not-just-you-new-data-shows-more-than-half-young-people-america-dont-have-romantic-partner/

@@chocolatMouse Absolutely, I agree that there are women in a similar position. But theperfectbeing summed it up very well in his comment, there is a massive disparity going on here. The number of women who literally can't find sex or a relationship is minuscule compared to the number of men, it's impossible to deny that. The average man is no longer considered good enough for the average woman, it's that simple (and obviously the outliers follow that same rule).
@Limemill
@Limemill 3 жыл бұрын
It's still primarily an internal problem, though. You actually see this in various pranks. For instance, a powerlifter applies a ton of makeup and whatnot to appear super fat and ugly and goes to gyms to prank instructors, but he has his usual confidence and demeanour about him and you just see how women are attracted to him despite him being ugly. The problem is that, as Dr. K said, people who don't have enough confidence in them exude insecurity and don't know how to access that source of inner worth and, eventually, it's that feeling of unworthiness that puts off not only women but potential friends too. From personal observations, people who are really good at something they like (their work, hobby, whatever) have a healthy sense of their inner worth regardless of how they look and this translates to successful relationships. So, the non-obvious solution to the problem of loneliness is to actually align your interests with your personality, get good at something to feel good about yourself and then that sense of self-fulfilment will take care of the rest. That is not to say that society is going in the right direction with an increased emphasis on quickies, non-existent affordable housing (young people living with their parents = very bad sex life), etc., but there's something that can be done at the personal level

Depends on how you look at it. You basically have two lenses that are very different and this is why people are so torn on the issue. Biological lens: We are still animals that have been conditioned from evolution for millions of years. People who are more attractive will get more options. “Human” lens: Us humans are more advanced intellectually than any other species on the plant. The redpill is incorrect because that’s “caveman” stuff. I personally lean towards the biological lens, and I identify as Redpill. I truly understand the “human” lens, but it’s really just a nice sentiment. And you’re completely right. I hate this whole notion of “you’re valuable because you’re a human being”. Again, that’s a nice sentiment, but reality is far more cruel. I think people who think this way are generally more sheltered and have had a good life. I’m sure that “being a human being” is working out real well for people starving and being murdered across the globe. I’m sure it’s working real well for the 5’4 man with a small d*ck. Although, I personally think that there are very few “true inc*ls”. Most of them that I have seen have been… average looking dudes (in the face).

I don't think anyone is denying that being more attractive will generally increase a person's dating options. The difference is in saying "this has an influence" versus "this is the ONLY thing that matters, and if you don't have it you might as well give up now". Yes, looks and height have an influence. Lots of other things also have an influence-things that are totally within one's control. Yet we commiserate-and build an entire life philosophy around-the things we can't control instead of focusing on the things we can, and then are of course not surprised when our experience does not change. (This is not just for incels by the way, it is a pretty common human phenomenon.)

Sounds like you’re missing the point a little when she says “women get to pick.” This refers to the dynamic of how men and women choose their partners and it’s generally the case that men are expected to “make a move” so to speak and initiate attempts at romantic contact. Whether that’s the case or not, that’s how many people, especially incels, view gender dynamics. So many male incels will express frustration that it’s unfair that they have to proposition women. This is because they often lack self confidence or don’t understand social queues and don’t know when a woman is expressing interest. They want women to make the first move. This woman is expressing that same sentiment and for her it’s much worse because as a woman she’s expecting sexual attention from men simply because she’s a woman and that since she’s not getting attention, she thinks this shows that basically even the most desperate men don’t find her attractive. Again, whether true or not, this is how incels see the world and it’s how many people see the world in general. If you live in a world where it is generally true that men will be expected to court women thus putting women in a position where they have choice of a partner, you’ll end up with women who feel inadequate if they don’t get attention and men who feel frustrated by the expectation that they must “make the first move.” I’m not passing moral judgment on how things are or ought to be, just my opinion on how your response is lacking some awareness there.

Many, many incels are on the spectrum. According to tony Atwood when he sees married autistic men it's because the found a hyper-empathising woman, often a few years older who took them under their wing, often the woman has a background in the caring professions, nursing, teaching, disability etc. So maybe this wanting the woman to reach out might be the natural aspie mating process if you will. Unfortunately hyper-empathising women who like aspies are sensitive and caring creatures. Incels have made themselves unattractive even to these sweet women because they sympathise with child abusers and rapists over victims. No hyper-empathising woman can turn her back on victims like this and feel sorry for that man. It's very sad they have contaminated themselves like this. Sorry, I know this wasn't your principle point but your insight about what they wanted was a gem that made me think.

Guts33n hey there I'm basing my opinion about incels on actual interactions with incels and online content that's very easy to find. It's very easy to find self identified incels promoting rape, child molestation and cp online. I'm not trying to smear a group of people. I actually want the best for incels and other men with social difficulties. My husband is on the spectrum and when we got together he had all kinds of awful and factually incorrect info about women he had found online (from other men inexperienced with women and porn) and it almost ended our marriage. We're ok now but I've never expended so much emotional energy before in my life and I got really hurt and now have to recover, which also takes a lot of energy. But he's a good person and I love him so I decided it was worth it. I understand that he just had zero understanding of women and that vacuum got filled with dangerous misinformation so I have forgiven him because he has changed and promises we can both continue to grow and change through our relationship. I liken it to people who are gambling addicts who spend so much money trying to chase the big money, yet end up broke or in debt with nothing to show for it. Perhaps some of these incels ended up the way they did because they tried so hard to find someone for years and years, got nothing, and are now bitter husks of their former selves.

I don't want to paint a bleak picture but I don't think it's hyperbolic to say that the average man is 'incel like' between relationships so if you're not in a relationship right now, you would have to be very lucky or completely go against your personality to get a bit of affection as in short term sex. I think the good thing about this whole incel 'popularization' is that more guys are becoming open about how they are not getting laid and they are coming out of the closet as straight guys with no love. It's taking the jab out of the insult and taking the power back so to speak. Realistically for all we pretend the fact remains that the average guy does not have women falling on his lap so what difference does it make if he verbalizes it very now and then and gets peer support on forums? Just because the man does not verbalize it does not mean that the circumstances are not there. Would you believe the average guy to be a millionaire unless he told you that he works for an average salary? Would you believe that he's built like superman underneath his clothes unless he undresses and lets you know? Would you think that he speaks a lot of languages fluently unless evidence to the contrary surfaces? It's the same thing with the incel thing; the average guy and even above average guys are struggling with women and still maintaining a facade in everyday life because they reason, in good or bad, that even the rare woman who takes interest in him will completely lose those feelings if she learns about his hardship and that shatters her fantasy of him as a high value man or whatever whereas guys are like "Oh shit awesome, she knows a life of powerlessness like me!" if a woman were to air similar thoughts. Just like feminists burning their bra and declaring themselves proud to be body positive feminists men should exclaim that they are incels and women should better learn to take it instead of forcing men to pretend to be something they are not. Does that make sense?

Quick reminder to any single people out there looking for a relationship that have trouble: its not just about finding someone who shares the same interests as you or finding someone who finds you attractive. It might take a while and that's okay, move at your pace and forgive yourself for the times where someone hurt you, find someone who you can communicate your fundamentals and boundaries to that's comfortable with sharing theirs with you because when you can find someone like that, you'll find it lasting a lot longer even if you don't have a lot in common. Relationships are a two way street and it takes a lot more than playing the same video games, watching the same shows or finding each other attractive to have a healthy one

@@lameduck3105 well I'm certainly no professional but I would recommend you try therapy and get a psychiatrist if you don't already have one and try to put yourself out there as much as you can, you don't have to run around looking for dates, just do what you love to do or try new things that interest you to see if it helps you meet new people and learn new skills, if going out proves to be too difficult there's always dating apps or meeting people online to try, just be patient with them and have no expectations. Finding intimacy can be hard and if you don't have experience it can also be dangerous as it's harder to see red flags but if it's something you want then it's always good to at least try. You're not defined by your mental health, you are who you are and as long as you can be honest, take care of yourself and put yourself out just enough to meet new people you'll find someone someday

I doubt the female incel had actually asked men out - she is probably angry that particular social norm didn't work out for her. Well ... too bad. @@SkeleTonHammer Please don't give up man, I was in the same boat as you and can reassure you, you can break out of this vicious cycle of self deprecation that's deterring you from loving yourself and others. Like Dr. K said the root of the issue is deeply embedded in one's self esteem. You can have multiple sex partners and still feel like an incel. Confidence is internal and not external so quit basing your confidence off of your looks and try to base it off the intrinsic qualities that make you a unique and loveable person. The fact that you said you have never been desired in your entire life is a fallacy in itself. You have such a cognitive bias about yourself that multiple opportunities have probably arose in your life time but you just didn't realize it due to being blinded by doubt. Below I will lay out a sequence of steps that will help you build love and confidence for yourself. Step 1. Mindful meditation - This can be as simple as breathing for 10 minutes a day and being aware of the breath or whenever your mind goes off on a tangent just say "im back" internally to yourself. Try to stay more focused on your environment or the task at hand during the whole day, by repeating simple mindfulness exercises such as pausing in place and taking a deep breath, or say to yourself "im back" either internally or outloud. Do this for approximately 30 days and you will see how much more grounded in reality you are. CAVEAT: BE FUCKING CONSISTENT. WHEN I SAY DO THIS FOR 30 DAYS STRAIGHT PLEASE DO IT OR 30 DAYS STRAIGHT ALSO DO IT THE WHOLE DAY. Step 2: Exercise: Not only are you slowing down the rate of cognitive decline by exercising everyday, but when you exercise you release chemicals called endorphins. endorphins are also known as "feel good hormones" and when released they boost your mood. Step 3: Get a therapist: DON'T EVER THINK YOUR PROBLEMS ARE TOO UNDERWHELMING OR YOUR SUFFERING IS NOT COMPARABLE ENOUGH TO OTHERS TO SEEK HELP. DOING SO IS NOT ONLY ARROGANT BUT YOU'RE ONLY DOING DAMAGE TO YOURSELF IN THE LONG RUN. Talking to a therapist can help you recognize and break out of these destructive thought loops that are holding you back.

I don't know in what language or dialect should I say this but here we go: if you're ugly, it's only bad, truly bad, if you're a man. This is a fact that you can't deny. You only receive a penalization when you lack any form of physical attractiveness as a man. Have you ever seen a sub5 girl struggling a lot when comes to dating, to have a relationship? At this point it's quite ludicrous to deny that beauty is an important factor (if you lack it, do not bother with other bullshit aspects) that brings you a lot of options in the dating market. You have to consider the following aspects: -we, as a species, have sexual dimorphism; -females are a lot more visual than us; -females must invest a lot when comes to find a partner because they spend 9 months to bring a child, therefore it's important for them to find good genes When you realise that this discrimination is based on a evolutionary perspective, it's still reasonable to feel some form of rage? I think so. There are some other discriminations that are, now, unacceptable by common opinion. So why we should make an exception in this case? Oh, yes, I understand! As long as this problem is a male issue, it's not a huge problem, since males, specially those with bad genes, are disposables. What a clown world.

@@dinocampana259 It's quite easy to explain. Those "sub 5" girls might have just never been asked out by other guys because those guys view them as "weird". A lot of guys only ask out girls if they view them as attractive. Some of those "sub 5" girls might also have social anxiety or any other kind of social-inhibiting disorder. The thing you need to recognize is that girls are not a monolithic group. Girls are individuals, just like men are. They each have their own thoughts, feelings, desires, opinions, hobbies, etc. So if you want to talk to girls, a good way of doing so is to find girls who share similar interests with you. You can do this by joining clubs at school or local groups in your community that revolve around something you're interested in. Also, don't initially talk to girls with the sole purpose of getting into a relationship with them. Just talk to them like how you would talk to anyone else. Women are one source of external validation. External validation is validation with a temporal condition “I feel ok because X is sufficient for my contentment at current Y time.” Internal validation is what you may be missing. Internal validation comes from a detachment and goal oriented approach to personal goals or aspirations. “Today I did 5 more push-ups than last week, and studied 5 min longer in a subject I was interested in” internal validation does not seek for anything outside your control.

The notion that females select does (in my opinion) come from the fact that men (almost) always consent to sex if not a relationship. So of course it is a mutual agreement, but if one side is to 90+% consenting you can savely ignore this part of the equation and "females select" holds true.

My closest cousin is what I would call an incel. He has never really had a girlfriend or an actual job. He is not really bad looking at all and I have discussed with female friends and they agree he is fact, attractive. He obviously has self esteem issues because he has a heavy russian accent, still lives with his dad and doesn't have a job. I know how those things can take a toll on you. But there is an added layer that I think is not discussed. Standards. I feel he also has these unrealistic standards. He wants a job but it can't be minimum wage because then he feels that is beneath him and the girl has to be quite attractive with certain proportions. Although I can relate because we all really want the best things in life I feel he lives in denial. Actually if he was putting himself out there and shooting his shot at hot women and high tier jobs I would understand but we all know he's just shooting it all down before it even comes close. Like the Doctor said. The only way there is no chance is if you don't try. He's waiting for the perfect conditions to fall into his lap. I know from experience that at the very least he has to change course and put himself out there, explore new hobbies and communicate with people somehow. He's currently trapped in his own mind where the variables put in are always the same with the same outcomes. It only takes a small chain reaction that snowballs into a way bigger thing. One day you are throwing frisbees alone at your dog in the park, two years later you are in a different state with a new job and a partner that loves you. The outcomes will not always be ideal but you will have lived and gained experience. That to me is worth it.

I am not bad looking either. The problem is not whether you look good or not. The problem is if you look top-tier vs very good. Because if you look very good, then a woman might "settle for you". If you look top-tier, they will even fight over you. But if you just look "good", that's not enough to a woman.

@@percival5568 Thats a faulty assumption. Women in study after study show that they value physical attractiveness less than men do. Now they do value it and some women will chase those guys regardless of other factors but most are fine with a good enough partner given there are other traits to value. Thats why they'll pine of high status movie actors but Chad Neanderthal in the gym who is just as good looking but has literally nothing of note outside of big muscles can struggle. Relationships are complicated and require compromises. The myth underpinning the toxic side of the Incel movement is the false idea that had they been born physically attractive enough that relationships would be zero work, zero compromise and that they'd have automatic top tier status in every room they walk in. They don't believe this intellectually but emotionally they do. If you are able to at least hook up with women you personally find attractive physically, then your looks by default are good enough and its up to you to see what other holes you may have/find other partners that mesh better with you.

When people refer to incels it's almost always 100% a man. It's just not considered normal to be a female incel. If you think about when women first really started to enter the workforce female doctor was a fairly common term. That's because in those times being a female doctor was considered abnormal. Similar to incel now. As it becomes a broader term the femcel word will be dropped and absorbed into incel.

I hate that you have to go back on the whole “women pick” notion. Saying that women pick doesn’t mean that the relationship isn’t chosen by two people, and it isn’t “inc*l talk”. It’s simply a basic biological and social fact. Males in the wild pursue females, and females are supposed to be choosy. The most classic example of this comes from birds. Males will have nice feather colors or they will literally dance for a females attention. Males are the ones pursuing, and females are choosing from the pursuers. They’re trying to pick the best one they can get. After all, pregnancy is a big deal. There have been countless videos on KZfaq of men asking women if they pursue men. Most of the time they don’t actively pursue. They say that they’ll look at the guy longer, or do any other non-verbal form of communication (which, I’m pretty sure women use and are better at reading non verbal communication). However, very few of them say that they’ll go and talk to a man first. Most expect men to initiate the conversation.
