Psychiatric assessment in a nutshell. Very good lecture. Psychiatric patients should opt for psychiatrist because what ever the causing factors are, the patient is unable to handle on his own because biology is not supporting, social circumstances are not in his control and resulting his own body response against internal and external factors is not impressive so psychiatry is the best option. Otherwise easy option is to surrender against prevailing social norms in the society because the people who are running society will never surrender in front of him. Because it is in human nature that we don't accept difference of opinion easily and we can say that their ego, social and financial status in the society might be in risk if they start thinking the way patient is thinking. Another thing it might be possible that the patient's view about the issues, he or she is facing should be broadened but again it is not easy because information flow and it's accessibility is not patient's control. So as a conclusion, I can say that psychiatry is a good refuge. Although psychiatry needs further research and innovation like all other fields of knowledge keep demanding all the time because if we find all the solutions for our problems the knowledge thirst will be gone and thought evolutionary process will be lost or at least needed to be diverted to new field of curiosity.

Remember what you were told at college about looking at the positives and negatives. If you were a sociology student you should already be aware of the psychiatric perspective and the environmental perspective. You can look up psychiatric crimes if you want to come into possession of lsychiatry's antithesis to gat a balanced view. At my college there were issues raised by senior and long standing academics about "going worse case scenario" The imperative to cover yourselves legally when you are on the job has been long observed by the sociologists who go into the system to watch you and record your behaviour.

Maybe the video tells how it SHOULD be done but never is...? Some got scolded for having physical issues as well, - and they might be causing much of psychical issues. One psychiatrists answered: I don't know about metabiólic issues in Schizophrenia, and am not interested in it(!) How risky is that not for the patient, who has now been stuck in unnecessary, neuroleptica-prolonged psychosis without real examination for 35 years!.

Dear Dr Rajagopal, Psychiatry in India seems to suffer the same purblindness as in Australia "Although many people have never heard of BPD, it is actually more common than many well-known disorders, such as schizophrenia. There is a large difference in the prevalence of BPD in women versus men; women are much more likely to be diagnosed with BPD" Unlike Schizophrenics borderline personalities are scattered throughout society more evenly, not rare like a genuine psychopath and do far more damage to society "collectively" than schizophrenics and psychopaths together. Psychiatry is not serving Justice or truth so much as even "inheritance hijackers" and high position child molestors
