You know, Oleander had a point though, you can't really compare what he did to what Lucy did. Oleander stole some children's brains and put them in tanks, but was stopped by Raz, and by end of it, all of the damage he had done was undone. Lucy, however, destroyed an entire village, kill hundreds of people including Raz's father's parents ( which in turn killed her own sister), and just tried to kill her great Nephew. So in a way yeah, her actions can't be undone, nor can they be forgotten. Eventually what Oleander did will be nothing but a folk tale someday, but Maligula's story has already lasted 20 years, hers will remain that way even long after her death.
@ZeroCanalX2 жыл бұрын
I mean on the one hand I'm tired of the "easily forgiven" trope and want to agree with you, but on the other hand the Psychic Seven have been doing very weird shit to their minds and as Raz points out here, she really couldn't control her darker instincts. It reminds me somewhat of a situation one of pioneers of anaesthesia - Horace Wells, faced later in life. He discovered that nitrous oxide could be used to painlessly extract teeth from patients. However, when performing such surgery in front of medical crowd he failed and was booed off stage. He then began working on other methods, but soon William T. G. Morton (Wells' former student and businesses partner) showed his own anaesthetic - aether (although it was first used in this role by Crawford Williamson Long, who simply never published his findings). Wells, who was also experimenting with this substance at the time, but remembering the humiliation wanted to perfect the method before showing it off, was outraged and decided to throw himself into work on anaesthesia - finding out that chloroform would also work, but became addicted to it due to intense abuse in proving its effects. One day, while higher than most kites, he run off from his lab and threw a vial of sulphuric acid at two prostitutes. He was arrested and tried for it, but while in prison he became sober enough to realise what he has done. Crushed by it, he requested escort to his house to retrieve his shaving kit and later committed suicide with the razor.
@toongrowner12 жыл бұрын
honestly I thing in this case the "Easily forgiven" trope is okay. Like what is the main work of psychonauts? Working with peoples psych and mentality, so they keep these "villains" close and helping them to reform or live a life where they can't be a harm to themselve or others anymore. I think if they just jailed them it would not help the actual problem. Considering how some prisons can be in real life, it propably would make them only worse.

The lives she took in the war are fairly excusable, it's war after all. But the slaughter of the protesters? Pure evil. All they wanted was to live decent lives and they were doing it in a peaceful manner. It's not like they were storming the palace with weapons in hand.The excuse of "Ah but we all have a primative dark side which comes out when we're threatened and it's sometimes hard to put that genie back in the bottle" makes more sense when there's an actual threat. Considering who Nona is at the end there's no point in punishing her but Oleander is definitely correct. Of course Oleander would probably caused at least as much death and destruction if he'd been allowed to proceed.
@tracied147127 күн бұрын
@@MrCompassionate01 I thought that she was just making it rain on the protesters, but the dam broke due to the extra water, (and possibly low maintenance), drowning the people, including her sister. Seeing her sister's body floating in the aftermath set her off, and to cope with the trauma, she didn't care anymore. Not even when her friends came to stop her. And because of her actions during the war when her mind was so weak, killing her sister, (even if it was an accident), was the final straw. Then again, I could be wrong, as I haven't played the game myself.

It's poetic and sad that the one thing that was truly keeping Maligula alive was the inability to be allowed to cope with the loss of her sister. By having her mind rearranged and placing her in her sister's spot in everything, her mind was never allowed to process the loss in any way. It's why the locket is being used to hold back the flood of baggage, and why Nona places so much emphasis on it through the fight. It was her greatest bit of grief; and while Ford acted in kindness for both Nona and Augustus in bringing them together, by denying her the grief of murdering her sister, Maligula would never be too far away.

Is there usually no music for the entirety of the fight? It's been a while since I played this myself, but that seems a really odd choice.
