Pt. 2, Lomo LCA-120 at the English Lake District real life images and my conclusion

The previous video about this unique medium format camera took you around the camera, how it works and my first test images with the Lomo LCA-120 camera. In Pt 2, this video, a real life test walking around on holiday under different lighting scenario's, did I rate it as highly on holiday as a serious walk around camera !!!! Thank you. These pictures have way more quality and character than the thousands made with all those “bokeh” wonder lenses and megapixel champion camera’s. It’s shows photography is an art and craft.

Wonderful images as always Martin! I think it would be an interesting video if you did a video on all the film developers that you use and how you decide which developer use on a roll of film.

Hope you’ve found your glasses! They weren’t on top of your head, I did look! Lovely set of photos Martin. It’s surprising how good that camera is and how much you like it considering it’s such a plasticky looking thing, but just goes to show it’s the person behind the lens that really matters!

Hi Martin your videos are always very inspiring but it's funny that whilst not here for the Lomo stuff it strikes me that your images are often a case of what you don't include and what is important in your images something I and I expect many others struggle with. For example the Lone Tree on Buttermere!!! many photographers will try to create a landscape image where they try to include the dramatic mountains the lake lake and the tree and it will just become foreground interest. Where in your image the tree is the focal point and the part Mountain and lake are more just background elements very similar with the stream running to the lake rather than a shot of the mountains with a streaming front. Which makes a much better photo . If that makes sense it would be lovely for you to expand in another video on what to include leave out

Hello Martin. You are a great inspiration to me. You take amazingly beautiful pictures in black and white. Your latest video where you shoot with a Holga camera inspires a lot. I started photographing in black and white 2 years ago again. I shoot with my Rolleiflex. A simple and light camera to carry with you. The only downside is the dark viewfinder. I have been looking for a Lomo camera, but it's hard to find one. Looking forward to more of watching your videos. Wish you a good summer. Best regards from Lars-Göran.

As ever some great shots. I spent the day finishing off a beautiful Minolta autocord with the insert option for 4x4 or 4x5 size giving 18 exposures on a 120 film. It came with the 4x5 mask. The lens cleaned up like new and the shutter was taken down to it's blades and cleaned as it was gummed up..I will be putting it through its paces soon.

You have a very keen eye. Making marvelous images in BW with simple compositions. As far as BW and/or film photography go, you and Steve Onions produce the finest content on KZfaq. Unfortunately many young having just discovered film photography think it is good enough to produce mediocre work. They will come to realize it takes a lot of practice to become a good photographer. Keep up the good work, even if you run out of cameras to show. Love the music by the way!

Great pics as usual :) When the 25th anniversary edition camera first came out I wanted to get one, but they were a bit too dear for me at the time. I may pick one up, now, see what deal I can get one eBay. Or, I may just buy one from Lomo as they still sell them in their store.

After your previous video I have been constantly checking out the lomography shop hoping for this to come in stock and it just did and I just ordered it. A lot of cash I suppose given it's brand new (tough to find this on the used market) but I think I will enjoy it a lot! I am definitely going to try and use a flash with it and take photos of family when I can't bring more stuff with me. Thanks a lot for alerting me to it and fantastic photos as always! I do actually have a Bronica SQ 40mm lens which I love but obviously that's far less portable than this. There are also fisheye options the cheapest and most wide (30mm!) being on the Pentacon Six but that's also really heavy haha.
