I came here from listening the Anand Bhate & Rahul's version... It was Beautiful... And regrettably this is my first time listening to this version by Pandit Bhimsen Joshi ... This version is SERENE... Hits heart-brain-mind-soul like nothing ever did.... Can't express it in words... Even hugging your loved ones comes second to how this music and Panditjis vocals make you feel...!!! Maybe this is what they call Blissful...!!!

You can't be more apt. Same is the case with me. After listening to veterans like Rahul and Anand ji, our expectations ho a bit too high. But Bhimsen ji very easily with great ease takes the show away from the two.

@@AdeeKulkarni I swear, even Rahul Deshpande himself says to sing certain songs, you need gamak in your voice, which only comes with practice, training. With respect to that, there is no match to Pandit Bhimsen Joshi!

This is in sanskrit and in praise of Lord Narayan. In sangeet soubhadra natak, this song is from sung by Narad muni in praise of Narayan as he always does.

@@Aspiring_Brajbasi It's in a play called Saubhadra. Around late 19th century, a genre of plays called "Sangeet Natak" started in Maharashtra. These plays were typically based on epics by Mahakavi Kalidasa or episodes from Mahabharat or Ramayan, or later they were written by playwrights on various contemporary topics. Most of the plays had plenty of songs, and since playback was unknown at that time, the actors used to sing themselves. Often it would happen that the audience would come more for the songs and the music. This song is sung by Narada Muni in praise of Lord Vishnu. You can look up the play on the internet for more details

This recording is from a live program called Chaturanga rangasangeet sometime in early 70s if i am correct. It was based on natya sangeet and singers were Pt Bhimsen Joshi, Pt. Vasantrao Deshpande, Pt Bhargavram achrekar and Vidushi Manik Varma. Cherry on top for this program was compering by none other than Pu. la. Many other gems sung by these artists. I could locate only two of the songs online. If anyone can find other songs from this album, please upload.
