I purchased and built this truck for a purpose. Let's see how it does.
This is part three of the LR3 series. We will be using this 06 as our cabin rig for the next few months as we begin the process of creating the Rover Woods..

The 32 inch tires have a circumstance that is 7% larger than the stock 30 inch tires. Multiply 14.5 by 1.07 and your actual gas milage is closer to 15.5. Just FYI. I enjoyed the video, thank you very much.

I didn’t know that’s how you can estimate actual gas mileage in real time with the computer. I always just did math when filling up and my trip record. Much appreciated.

Great informative video, looking to buy one this month. 14.5 is pretty good for a heavy lr3

On 265/60/18 BFG KOs (great compromise) I would get a little over 300 miles on a tank for that sort of trip. If you can do the work yourself and don't mind the extra maintenance that they definitely require then they are good trucks.

Get yourself a GAP diagnostic tool. It’s an obd2 reader that also lets you update and control all the ECU’s and…. Disable your break sensors and TPMS sensors… And recalibrate the odometer had Speedo for wheel size. 😎

Yeah everyone always recommends these and then you check the price. I’ll stick with my $30obd2 scanner!

I love my 06 LR3 HSE with 195k miles. Minus my EPB light flashing. But easy fix. I have no problem after I stop taking my LR to the dealer for a simple oil change or warranty check up. I swear something always happen after I got it back. Take care of it and do normal tune up n change the bleeder pipe valve every so often since the heat make the plastic bleeder brittle. If you have time everything on the LR is easy to do. Plus KZfaq mechanic are all out there to show you how. My LR3 is Blk on Blk with BlkOut 05 spoke rims with Nitto Terra Grabbler 285/60/18 barely a rub with max turn. Minimum road nose. I can easy say I like how beefy it looks since I put three set on my Blk Beauty already. It’s the most comfortable road trip. But wifey 2019 Discovery5 HSE is above and beyond there’s nothing like Land Rover. Take care and shoot more contents

Why don't you just install the tire pressure monitors in each of the steel wheels? Here in Canada the Land Rover dealers were selling them for less than $100.00 Canadian each. The US government mandated the tire pressure sensors after the problem Ford had with SUV,s equipped with Firestone tires having blowouts and rolling over due to incorrectly inflated tires. Ford sued Firestone. The drivers were typically exceeding the speed limit and the blowouts usually occurred in warmer weather. How many people do you know who check tire pressure regularly ? The tire pressure sensors are mandatory for all new cars & are found on many modern motorcycles. There are only 2 brake pad wear sensors, one front, one rear, diagonally opposed. The plastic terminal carrying the metal contact which plugs into the brake pad becomes brittle with heat & is easily broken when trying to remove it from the brake pad during service. In Canada I pay about $25.00 Canadian at the dealer for the break pad wear sensor wire and terminals. These sensors have nothing to do with the wheel speed sensors and therefore do not disable the cruise control. IMPORTANT: READ THE OWNER'S MANUALS !!!!!! YOU MAY NOT HAVE PAID ANYWHERE NEAR THE FULL PRICE OF $80,000.00 FOR YOUR LAND ROVER LR3 BUT IT STILL HAS ALL OF THE ORIGINAL HIGH TECH WHICH IT APPEARS YOU HAVE NEVER SEEN IN ANY OF THE VEHICLES WHICH YOU PRESENTLY OWN OR HAVE OWNED. You should use the information/GPS screen on the dashboard. I see that the screen is in the selection mode indicating you don't know what it is for. The main owner's manual is almost 350 pages, normal for modern luxury cars & trucks and there is a separate manual for the sound system and another for the information system in the dash. If you had any Land Rover factory tech training you wouldn't be running on the highway with those wheels, tires, & suspension mods. Exactly the kind of ignorance & neglegence that led to the rollovers, deaths, and lawsuits with Ford and Firestone resulting in the mandating of the tire pressure sensors by the Department of Transport & NHSA for all new cars and light trucks sold in the United States, and then later mandated by Canada. The LR3 also has a unique & proprietary Rollover Mitigation Program as well as stability control to help prevent the rollovers experienced with the Ford SUV's & other makes. To add this the LR3 is approved to tow 7,700 lbs if the trailer has brakes. The LR3 has a huge fully boxed frame unlike many other SUVs. This is an almost 3 ton SUV with a high center of gravity with a precisely engineered safety system. Now you have raised the center of gravity by increasing the tire size, suspension height, and added 100 pounds or more with a roof rack inches above the roof and a cargo box with items in it. Furthermore the front & rear bumper heights only meet the Department of Transport regulations when the LR3 is at the 'NORMAL' height as shown on the screen of the information center with the original tires and wheels. The LR3 will warn you if you exceed 20 mph in ACCESS MODE OR OFFROAD MODE & the computer will automatically place the LR3 at the 'Normal ' road legal height if the driver does not, for whatever reason, such as being unfamiliar with the LR3 controls and warnings. The plastic covered bumpers with styrofoam blocks & telescopic energy absorbers behind the plastic covers are positioned at the mandated height to meet the safety structures of the other light vehicles on the road which have also been crash tested and approved by the Department of Transport thereby minimizing injuries to the occupants of the vehicles . This way Land Rover Jaguar protects themselves from legal liability in case of an accident & damages caused by the public at large who are mostly technically unaware, poorly trained as drivers, & most don't read the owner's manual . Auto mechanics and techs also don't respect the regulations & will sell anything they can to the unsuspecting & trusting public. It will be a dark day for you as an offroad enthusiast when your auto insurance company refuses to pay your accident claim, you are found responsible for an accident, and you are sued personally for the damages because you modified a highway vehicle rendering it unsafe and illegal. Check out the rules & regulations for commercial transport as well, aviation, rail, marine, & highway. I see people going to track days with their road cars towing little trailers with their track tires mounted on another set of wheels. If you want to experiment with offroad modifications then transport your offroad equipment to the trail and switch over then. Or simply Transport it to the trail as the road racers transport their highly modified cars which are no longer street legal. As you may have noticed the original lug nuts fastening the original Land Rover LR3 wheels to the hubs are quite robust & have a unique shape & flange, and are designed to withstand the high loads of the heavy LR3 when properly torqued to the 103 ft lb spec, & thereby preventing failure of the wheel mounting studs. The steel wheels you are using are not the same & Land Rover states in the owner's manual that you must have the approval of their engineering department when deviating from their wheel or tire specifications. This is common practice for any equipment manufacturer who is required to conform to Government regulations applicable to their products. Again, if you are involved in a serious accident you can be held personally responsible if you don't have a letter from the respective manufacturer authorizing your modifications or you have not done the modifications in accordance with the specifications of Land Rover. In some countries such as Germany you have to go to your local vehicle inspection center with your planned modifications before begin your project. I would get my approval from Land Rover engineering. In Australia and Africa they say most offroad accidents are rollovers due to overloaded overweight roof racks . They do long off road trips in some countries and the pack a lot of equipment and supplies. Go on KZfaq and look at some videos on fork lift truck training to see how professionals handle equipment and weight in relation to height and position. Call your insurance company and the Department of Transport to get info & letters of approval for your modifications.
