Puccini's Intermezzo from Manon Lescaut is a staple of the orchestral repertoire. My friend, trombonist Massimo La Rosa commissioned me to make him an arrangement of the Intermezzo for trombone and piano for his second album Sempre Espressivo. For the trombone arrangement, I made the piano part a bit thicker for balance reasons in live performances. Since 2024 is the year of Puccini's 100th anniversary of his death, I made an arrangement of the Intermezzo for cello and piano. I thinned out the piano part in places and revoiced some passages.
