Sharing The Wild

Күн бұрын

To be honest I don't actually catch the crab that I end eating, but I do play with my food as good measure. I mean these things are gigantic and totally wild. Besides dinner and having fun, I share some thoughts about fishing which I'll touch on a bit more over time.

About me:
My name is Joseph & I'm based out of British Columbia Canada. I’ve been living full time in my self built minivan conversion since 2019. Choosing the lifestyle was an adaptation to some very difficult life’s circumstances. While not my first choice, it made sense to me; and that mattered. Van life has allowed me to reflect, take responsibility, rebalance, and grow much faster than I think I could have, had I chosen otherwise. It has taught me a different way of life that I've come to appreciate more and more and it has afforded me more resources to share with myself and my family. It has also put me more in touch with nature, both inner and outer, and these are huge passions of mine that I share here.
Prior to this, I’ve worked in aviation, retail, forestry, yoga, and other health and wellness services. Now day’s I split my time between side jobs and creating and sharing videos on KZfaq. My vision is to share the wild, both the inner and outer, as it has no boundaries. My goal is to share the journey and with that, inspire, teach, and foster awareness with our connections. I want to co-develop a stronger healthier world with you.
Some of my most fundamental values and visions are built around food, conservation, education, humility, development, exploration, community, and love
The world is my playground, my school, my mother and certainly not mine.
Gratitude and much love
Joseph

Hate to say it but those particular crabs are relatively rare and old and should probably be left alone. Stick to Rock crabs and dungeness.

How many crabs like that did you see? Few, I assume. That might be a clue to leave it behind. You don't need it to live. Let it live and serve its function in its own environment.

If you go through all the trouble to suit up swim out there and it's technically legal, yeah, I'm eating ONE... but I also tend to agree.. ✌️

Really enjoyed the underwater filming. Those were new starfish formations, different colour urchins and those crabs are huge. I had never seen that particular species before either. Let us know how eating it went. I have seen mussels in tide pools before but always was unsure as to how safe they were to eat. It was also a good lesson to all of us about thinking our naked feet are safe going in the water. There was an abundance of urchins. Felt I was watching a national geographic channel. Who knew all of that was on the shores of BC. You live your life Joseph, we are here for the ride. Don’t do anything you don’t feel like to please viewers. You’ll stay much happier that way. All at your own pace.

You always have the proper respect for the wildlife and harvesting sustainably, thank you for that. Being able to see what you've going to harvest and decide what you're taking out of the water is excellent conservation, imo. I'd love to see more videos like this-not something I've done myself. And I gotta say, y'all have big brass ones for getting in that water in a wetsuit-I dive dry if the water is 70 degrees or less, and usually 75 or less. I like seeing you cook and the feedback of how it is eating different species than I have available to me also. Most excellent video!
