This Puig Windshield is taking some getting used to. It is WAYYY bigger than the original BMW screen. I love how they kept the sleek design of the original screen while making it much more effective while doing Highway miles.
Many people complain about needing some reinforcements for the taller screen, but I haven’t really seen that it needs it that bad. Although it could use it, its not a must.
This video was just a quick outing and got tons of rain, thought it would be fun to share something mid week.
For all my gear that I use see the links below.

I swapped the oem screen for a Puig touring screen a while ago. It adds so much comfort to the bike. Especially in rainy weather.

Totally! At first I didn’t like how big it was. NOW it’s increased my comfort by sooo much! It’s actually incredible. I wish I did it sooner. Thanks for the feedback!

I will be picking up my new GSA in a couple of weeks and I am getting my list of accessories lined up on what to get. All for a larger screen. I’m 6-1 so I think I may need this screen.

Yes! There are taller ones out there, but you have to decide if your ok to ALWAYS look through plastic. If you want something to look over this is the one! Good luck and enjoy your new toy!

@@AmericanAbroad1 Yeah, it's a bit taller and wider than the sock screen. The stock screen caused terrible buffeting.

Great video, nice screen. Have you just changed the screen to the Puig one. Did you add extra screen support? Would appreciate an answer because want to put one on my bmw 1200gs lc. Thanks in advance. Charles

Yes I did. I did not put the supports and I regret it. When on highway it pushes it down quite a bit. I will be ordering the supports today.

I would not worry about the view, its what to be expected with a tall shield. I always think about the view also, I don't use helmet camera much, most vids are from my insta360. I position it in a way on the handle bar like I was using a helmet cam, and I'm able to get 2 views with 1 camera. Its a trade off, and sometimes I think I should just go with the helmet cam, but I don't like all mounts and cables on the helmet. I did find a company that makes a nice small mount for my Shoei, I used it to make short vid with my old gopro the other day. I'm not a big shield guy, I like bikes as minimal as possible. I do get they offer much more protection, and as far and not being prepared for rain. I always get caught without the right gear... hate the rain, but the GS is the best for bad weather riding in my opinion.

Man, I was so torn between a drone and insta 360. I really would love a 360. The ability to have so many shots seems awesome. I’m so done with GoPro glitches. How do u add audio? I used a zoom h1n the other day and audio was awesome. Haha yes, rain here right now has been unrelenting.

@@AmericanAbroad1 Insta360 has very small mic adapter for a Lavalier mic and its cheap $18, it works great. I don't like cables but a deal with it because it works well. The insta360 does not have gain adjustment for the external mic, but you don't need it. Some times external mics can be to powerful and the sound is not audible when your riding, but the 360 does not have that issue. There is a company called instamic that is wireless and works with the inst360, but they are on back order. I don't want to use a recording device that I have to sync with my video, but I here the h1n works good. Then Insta360 has no glitches, it has never failed to record video or audio, but it is not perfect. GoPro's and the DJI Osmo have a better quality video for sure, and you don't get that distortion a 360 can give you. If I go to helmet cam I will go with Osmo action 3, DJI also offers a great wireless setup. Check out this motovolgers setup... Is a setup I would use. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/hcCWf6mYvtrSp3k.html

Great video, exactly what i needed and to see and the riding view, was brilliant. To share some knowledge back, did you know you can get something called ceramic coating causing the water to fly straight off, so stays clear 100% of the time. People are having their bikes coated and the protection lasts up to 7 years. I think you can do it yourself as well. Many thanks.

@gibb013

Not yet, there is a company here in the Uk that do your bike for you, they also do cars and for a bike it's £300 and should last around 7 years. Everything gets coated, including the TFT screen and water just sheds straight off and will keep dirt at bay to. @@AmericanAbroad1

Man that is the question for the ages hahaha. For this video in particular I didn’t use the GoPro media mod like normal because I was getting to much chop. I was using a zoom h1n to record the voice and then layer it over the video.

never had issues riding with rain or rain and storm on my r1200gs adventure. Ofcourse drove more safer. Besides my motorsuit which should be dry in rain I always wore a rainsuit over it. Just in case and feeling less cold. Regarding your screen you can try to wax it.

Just got a BMW R1200 GS first thing on my list was a new windshield I'm 6'1 not only buffeting but also getting a lot of motor noise , I could put my head down a few inches and all that would go away so I haven't installed new puig windshield yet but noticed right away how much taller and wider this one is pretty sure it will solve all those problems. If these companies would just put a little bit of a recurve at end of windshield they could shorten there shields a few inches.
