Hey Jes, how far back does your property go back in the woods? I love your property. I keep telling my husband, "in a couple years we're moving to the country, my roots." I can't wait to sell and get more land for my gardens. Btw, you're absolutely a precious woman with a gentle soul. The world needs more people like you.

Hi Jess! I'm glad my letter found you. Yay! Look forward to seeing the plants you get and where they end up in your garden. Double yay! I wish you would start a gardening Instagram one day. Great way to connect with your internet gardening friends and have it all things gardening. (Just a thought!) We love watching you and seeing your garden in our home! Have a blessed Wednesday Jess.

Hello Jes. Each season brings a different take on the garden and I love them all. Spring when the garden is waking up and we plan and plant. Summer when all our hard work is in it's glory and we can enjoy the beauty of nature. Fall when we clean up the garden and get it ready for sleep. And winter when the garden is at rest, gearing up for spring.😁

Hi Jess, the thorny plant you were asking about is a Hawthorn Tree. We HAD 4 or 6 on our property, lost all but 2 in an ice storm several years ago. I live in the Portland OR area. We seldom have ice storms so I’ve been told. The trees are pretty in the spring with little white flowers and the birds love the berries but those thorns are terrible. Be safe. I’m so enjoying your movies. Thank you 🙂

Fall is here 😢 - all those Pumpkin Spice fall loving folks 😝! Not me! But it is kinda nice not melting while I work in my flower beds. First year ever having zinnias (strawberry or raspberry n cream?) smaller plant but they were gorgeous! I’m so saving the seeds and planting everywhere next year! Today is our (northern Kentucky) first really cool day 58 deg and gonna go down to 39 tonight - brrrr 🥶. I’ll be out all day pulling most of my annuals and planting several hold overs 😊.

Yes Jes, you are correct, Eastern White Pines will retain their needles for 3 years, and every Fall they will shed the previous 2 yr. needles, retaining only the current years growth. My giant White Pines on our property are "raining" yellow needles right now every time we have a wind gust. You can use the soft needles as mulch or put into compost. Despite the yearly drop, I love these majestic trees and they were so important building America in the 17th, 18th and 19th centuries, railroad tracks, ship building, etc. Be sure to clean out the needles in that standard...it will deprive the aphids and mites to find a hiding space, and prevent funguses which White Pines are prone to. Forgot to mention....I hose them out with a heavy blast of water....works wonders.

That thorny stuff with berries is buck thorn. it is very invasive. you need to KZfaq on that stuff. cutting it down makes it come back more than double, you need to cut it and put concentrated roundup on the fresh cut to kill it to the roots. We live in Michigan and have battled it for years and just this year was able to stump grind the last of it.

I got outside today and rototilled a large section behind my sun perennial bed to plant 8 hydrangeas. I have 2 Quick Fire, 2 quick Fire fab (? I think they are fab.. I can’t remember all of a sudden) and 4 Bobo’s. But I needed to go get some bio-tone because I ran out & as soon as I stopped to get going it started to pour rain. So, hopefully tomorrow I’ll get it completed! Can’t wait to check that off my list! See you in the next one Jes!! 😊♥️
