Great Belgian GM First time we stayed in a high floor main building room. The odd construction created a wind sheer and it was difficult to sleep. Second time we stayed in a swimming pool villa which was OK. Love the huge pool and the garden The restaurant is fine, great bone marrow I gave it a 8/10

Kevin's seasoning to a Pullman PQ named soup 1. Opened in 2020 - - Fantastic timing 😂(Couldn't argue) 2. Inspired by the lively fishing villages of the island Hmmmm... 🤔 O. K. 🙄 3.Oh! Heyyy...🤗 That almost looks like a fish🐠 4. Really makes me wonder how many $$$🤑 were spent to say we target millenials 5. Expecting to grow overtime🫣 30 years herhaps... 6. Up to your usual very high standard, Kevin. And, despite my aversion to Asian breakfasts, this buffet might just have tempted me to plunge in. Hyper-connected customers will, of course, want a hotel's wifi to extend as far as the beach-loungers.

Thanks for sharing we just stayed 4 nights at Intercontinental Phu Quoc . We were fortunately upgraded to a beautiful 2 bedrooms Bridge Suite measuring a whopping 300sq.m. While the hotel is beautiful landscape . The staff is so inexperienced. There is no recognition for higher tier IHG members (Platinum Elite). When there was a problem at check in -the supervisor (his name is Trung) told me to contact the sales agent myself . Breakfast was chaos with decent spread but the staff is inexperienced & rude - refused to make fresh Banh Mi & fried egg . Some of our friends did not have their rooms cleaned until very late at night or they have to request. Intercontinental Phu Quoc should renamed Holiday Inn Express. Phu Quoc is deserted . Despite my connection to Phu Quoc(My father named me after the island "Quoc" after he was posted there as the founding principal of Duong Dong High School back in 1963) I would not come back to this so called " Pearl Island"

Yupp, as I said in a few videos, Vietnam is lagging behind the region for international arrivals compared to 2019, barely at 65% at this point.

Just a suggestion but when I was working in the tourism industry in Cyprus, during low capacity times most of the guest rooms were concentrated in certain floors or wings of the hotels. This allowed a smaller workforce to maintain the housekeeping in the rooms without travelling all over the premises. This may have been the reason for your upgrade🤷‍♂️

This was originally my suspicion, but at sunset I saw a smattering of guests on balconies on multiple levels of the main building. Also lots of clothes drying at the pool side rooms. Perhaps it was pure luck haha. Thanks for watching 🩴

I was curious if Pullman had anything to do with the train company. Plus your history lesson explains why I haven't really heard about them before. I did recently find they have a property near Miami international airport, which could be a good place for a layover.

FF, I’m considering signing up for your Patreon. Before I do I just have one question. How have you funded several years of 5 star hotel round the world travel, often in Business class? It’s a lifestyle I’d be interested in. Honest answer only please.

I don’t beat around the bush with it, always happy to answer honestly. The short answer is: Pre-covid I had a successful restaurant business. Covid changed all of that for me- like many others. Starting the channel while the restaurants were still open was a backup plan. When I closed my last restaurant and went into the channel full time, it was a business decision. It’s a tough lifestyle to swallow though unless you enjoy working 7 days a week, like me ☺️.

Kevin, I am planning a trip to Vietnam next year. Due to my budget and time limation, I can only able to travel to two places in Vietnam. So, I have to choose two places out of the following four which are; Da Nang, Nha Trang, Da Lat and Phu Quoc. Which two places among them should I choose? Please help me as I am in a big dilemma.

I’d suggest Da Lat and Phu Quoc to experience a big difference . NT and DN are center oriented but don’t have that “vibe” you can experience. It all depends what you look for. Nature and beautiful beaches or the buzz from bigger cities …

It is entirely dependent on which month you're traveling in since the rainy seasons are different for southern, central and northern VN. I'm happy to answer in much more details (after I know more details lol) but out of respect for my Patreons who pay me for travel advise like this, it would need to be on Patreon. That outdoor shower of your cabana or garden villa is completely exposed to the world! That is a HUGE design flaw! They could easily remedy that by replacing those vertical timber posts with a brick wall.

Did you book the hotel through AMEX or Chase? That might be a reason for a free upgrade Did you had any neighbors? Considering it's a family oriented resort I expect them to have good noise isolation... something Vietnam is notoriously bad

If you book a double floor cabana, you totally isolated. Alternatively , highest floor at the end of the right side wing. ( no or less wind sheer noise)

Kevin, do you ever do tests for bacteria in pools and hot tubs? Jackfruit emits a strong, bubble-gum odour that has been likened to a combination of rotten-onions, bananas, and pineapple (can't say it ever bothered me). Also an article in the Guardian several years ago, pretty well damning the fruit from every possible angle, caused deep angst in the tourism industry leading to much more widespread banning. This hotel looks like remarkable value for money.

I couldn’t get interested or excited about this place during the whole video except the food part. The place looked soulless to me, disjointed architecture, mismatched styling and a very far reaching branding concept that I frankly didn’t get trying to find out what vibe they were going for. In short, I felt I have been looking at a video of a fish, that never really was… Great video Kevin, thank you!

Accor's branding is quite unknown and weak in consumers mind compared to other big box chains. They must invest in marketing to deliver their branding message more. Although the resort is awesome, solid offering and petite the name pullman doesn't pull. If someone told this was a Delta hotel, Element, voco etc one could easily believe. I want to know is Phu Quoc beaches swimming and water activities friendly?

Depends on where you are. Many countries in Asia Pacific have more Accor properties than anything else (or close to it). Where they really lack a decent footprint is North and South America. Thanks for watching 🩴

This hotel makes me feel lonely. The exteriors, all the furniture, the decors are all mismatched and dated. I would not even want to think about going to this hotel at all
