The “GBS” or “Great British Spring” was actually made out of plastic drainage pipes usually used for roof guttering, giving it a nice hard punch was a often heard thunder and lightning effect on tracks and the BBC television programs, it was cheap and cheerful but did an okay job, cost way less than a AMS RMX16 as well at the time…we also had a graphic eq on the input due to wild resonances, loud mixing when it was in the control room was also not recommended 😂😂😂

Great video!! I usually don't like spring reverb plugins. Simply not moved by them. But THIS one, is much more 'alive'; sounds like something 'physical'; just the right combination of imperfection plus musicality. ❤

HK12 is probably Hawk HR-12 unit. Tubby is the one used by King Tubby, reggae dub guru, it was a Grampian 636. Thanks for the review Mike, It sounds really good! It's a top contender to audiothing springs.

Ah, you forgot to play with the springs themselves. You can click on them and they make pleasant sounds. A different youtuber sampled an entire drumkit from the spring sounds.

Hey Mike, two off-topic questions: 1) What's going on with Your audio lately? I'm hearing both a buzz as well as either plosives or mic bumps throughout. You should probably play this back and see what's going on. 2) Did you generate that Signal Flow chart, or find it from Pulsar. If you Did create it yourself, A) thank you and B) how did you generate it? Software, any particular methods or best practices? I'm still building out my studio and want to create Signal Flow / Block Diagrams for each piece of gear as well as the overall system and Patchbays.
