Feels like these boots are more like an older generation speed boots like a vapor 8-9,Evospeed 1.4 and 17. It’a a major bummer that it isn’t leather but if you love the Vapor 8-9 and the final two Evospeeds,you’ll love the puma king ultimate.

Is the upper thin or on the thicker side compared to other synthetic uppers? I dislike thin uppers such as mercurials so I really want to know.

A faux-leathered version of the old puma evospeed. kinda narrow, has the evospeed look, and kinda lacking still.

These companies are really not as smart as we think they are. Shows how out of touch they are with the market. Why go synthetic, when you can implement calf-skin leather? If they really want the King to pop and compete in the “modern heritage” category they need to radically shift whatever wtf they doing lmao No one going to get these, let’s keep it 💯, marketing ain’t there. Imo, companies are getting greedy and stingy with their innovation nowadays. Why not throw a carbon fiber soleplate and calf-skin leather? Market will go crazy.

Mizuno and New Balance are the only big names still using K leather. Kangaroos are not endangered they are as plentiful in Australia as deer are in the USA. This is a cost cutting measure by cheap ass companies and nothing more

Leather is overrated in my opinion. Have a pair of Mizuno morelia 4 Beta Jpn's and honestly they don't give me the feeling that I don't want to try anything else. I also have the kings and in hand they feel really good, much better than the Tiempo's. Only issue is its a little too thick so you don't get as much feeling on the ball.

I have a question? Is playing without socks(barefoot) a good idea because you have way more grip than with grip socks. (I don’t care about safety)

You might not be able to walk afterwards, and socks usually help your feet fit the boots so you don't slip. No socks is a bad idea.

No if u start sweating .one that sweat is gonna make u slip more than with if u had socks and 2 ur boot will have bad odor since the socks trap a little of the sweat. But if u don't sweat to much on the feet is really up to you.

Puma has always been behind Nike and adidas when it comes to football boots tech,even in times when Nike and adidas looked like they were floundering,puma still couldn’t made a great pair of football boots Forget Nike and adidas,I say puma is well behind New Balance as well

What is the point of synthetic leather boots, that aren't even constructed like traditional leather boots (U-throat tongue, medium to wide fit, etc.)? Just wear other silos.

This review seems to be the worst example of you being overly positive or sugarcoating a product due to you having a direct interest in selling ir or working with the manufacturer. These boots seem like a crappier version of last years KU which was a crappier version of the Platinum 21 which was a crappier version of the previous Platinum. Spening $250 on these shoes is insane. Any positives this boot has is outweighed by the negatives and there are better options elsewhere that do everything better across the board compared to this King Ultimate. The Platinum or Platinum 21s (which can be found for 1/5 of the price now) immediately come to mind, and theres a slew of competitors options which blow it out of the water.

What’s interesting is that this is a great example of why it’s a good idea to try the boots before automatically assuming that they’re bad. We can probably both agree that the first King Platinum is the best King that’s been made for years, but that doesn’t make the new King Ultimate worse - or, at least not necessarily. As I say, if you want a leather boot, this might not be the first boot you should look at, but if you’re after something modern, comfy and well-balanced, I’ll maintain that it’s actually a pretty good option. Btw I do not agree that the 2023 King Ultimate was a worse version of the King Platinum 21 - the first KU (if it fit you at least) softened up well with a bit of time and despite its flaws, I think it did more things right than Platinum 21. This is a different direction, but if you can look past the fact that it’s not leather - some can, some can’t, either is fair - it’s actually pretty solid in my book. /Jay

@unisport that's a fair and measured response. I've had these on feet (they were pre production, but it's obvious it was the same boots I've played in) and I found them overly tight, very similar yo the previous KU. While I disagree on your stance of the Platinums (I think the 21 is a decent boot, it was just a dramatic drop from the og platinums), I think we can all agree that the latest King is becoming something it's not. I think the question becomes why get the King if you can just get an Ultra that likely will fare better than the King (since the King is trying to be a more performancey boot now)? And even more, why get it at all when there's a slew of better options in the modern synthetic category? It almost feels like Puma is trying to make a synthetic version of the Morelia Neo or something (traditional modern boot hybrid) - which is insane to do imo. This boot just feels like a break into a market that Puma shouldn't be in imo.

Not really. It’s a nice boot, fantastic heel but with the obvious drawback of not really being a true leather replacement. I highlight the annoying things - and basically say what I feel, good and bad. Give them a go before you judge 👍 /Jay

Puma have lost the plot. Those sharp edges are a dealbeaker. What an idiotic decision. K-better for me is much better than nikes flytouch, but that ankle area makes it unusable.
