PUMA King Ultimate review - in today's video, JayMike takes the brand new PUMA King Ultimate football boots for a spin in our latest Unisport review, to test if the newest PUMA King - which has been made without leather(!) - can live up to the King name. In an attempt to make a more environmentally friendly boot, PUMA have introduced a new upper material called K-Better, which is made with 60% recycled nylon from post-industrial waste - and still, it's got a lot of the same attributes as normal k-leather with the way it moves and feels. Its a step in the right direction. People do not wear leather boot anymore. Its a thing in the past. Leather will just make the boot heavier and sloppier over time

I really want Puma to make womens versions in sg/mxsg across all lines. Sadly I'm informed this isn't in the pipeline due to lack of demand but I wish it were for my daughter in the UK winters!

Clearly, they made the previous King K leather and as bad as possible, so we wouldn’t complaint about this one. A Puma King with no leather makes no sense, they should change the name.

Wow I actually don’t remember the last time I’ve been this excited about a boot. I’ve always wanted a synthetic leather like boot with a speed boot like aesthetic while having only conical studs. If the fit is good for my feet I’ll be copping these.

Adidas first with the accuracy and now Puma with the King are going back to using synthetic leather and I’m more than happy, imo it’s a much better material than the stiff knit uppers that have been used over the past few years.

I love that Puma uses recycled materials. I have a pair of Puma First Mile cleats that I only bought because they used recycled materials so this is awesome to see.

As a big fan of natural leather boots, I'd say you can color me intrigued. If I had the time and the money, I'd love to try these out. Maybe they'll go on deep sale in a year or so.

Love what they are doing, but they constantly ignore the major failing point of all of their boots. That failure point is the glued area between the upper and the outsole (particularly on the flanks around the toe box). That area has been known to be the failure point of many makes in the past; however, it is extremely accelerated with Puma boots from my experience. This continues to be a problem and really needs to be addressed by Puma before I invest in their boots again. I want my boots to last more than six months if possible.

In my experience, the brands that consistently get this right are Mizuno, Asics, for the most part Diadora. I just got a pair of Alders where the soleplate is stitched, not riveted, so I'm curious to see how that plays out.

This is an interesting boot for me. I really like the fit and the touch, but why call it a King? It doesn't feel like leather (which makes sense since the upper is 30% thinner) and the break in can be brutal. This is not for lovers of the King silo IMO, so they should have given them a different name.

Hello Jay, could you compare this new Puma King Ultimate to the new Adidas Copa Pure.1? Which upper feels softer on foot? Could any one else compare the softness? I'm easy with any form of leather. Be it, natural, artificial, or K leather etc. Just would like to know which truly feels softer while on foot and while playing. Thank you!

Do u think the heel would fit ok if my foot was slightly wider? Because from the pics the heel pillows seem higher than that of the ultra ultimate which for me was slightly on the shallower end but offered good lockdown.

Honestly interesting boot, looks nice and possibly the best synthetic leather since nikes kangalite. Yes it's not leather but give them the credit of creating an upper which visibly looks as close to leather as we ever had

True words. It definitely deserves to be given a chance - and it's one of those boots that I think once you try it, 90% will enjoy it a lot. It's not flashy, it doesn't have swagger, but it just feels... good. And that's an undervalued thing I feel. /Jay

My foot are so bad they would not fit me 😄. Every boot I tried are hurting me at my heel. Doesn't matter mercurial, puma ultras, furon v7, adidas x. Predator are to wide Mizuno I need 42.5 and Unisport only have 43. Future I got blisters by my toes so bad that I had to go to the doctor's.

They have a modern classic of the King. It’s called the Puma King Cup. Essentially the same as what the Top DI model was. Just a newer soleplate plastic with narrower studs.
