A step-by-step tutorial on how I created my 9 foot pumpkin monster for Halloween. It's a labor of love and consistent troubleshooting. Please comment for any recommendations! I hope you enjoy my process!

This is an awesome tutorial. I love that you tell people what products you used to make the sculpture.

I wonder if, instead of the 50 dollar a can rubber paste, if a person could crackle paint it (where you paint on glue first, then paint over the glue while it's still tacky) to get a bark look, or maybe using Alan Hopps' plastic corpsing method? Not that the rubber paste doesn't look good, but to cut down on the cost. I like using the cheap latex caulking for skinning a variety of monsters. It can be brushed or kind of sculpted before it dries to get some pretty interesting textures, so that might be an option as well. One of those might be worth a test if someone is attempting this build. HTH.

That thing is nasty! (in the good way) I really like what you did with the head. Thank you for sharing your process and clips from the build.

He's looking awesome! I love the head so much! These big props are such a labor of love - it's easy to see the value of the ones you see for sale for thousands of dollars when you make one yourself 😂 I made a copy of a large styrofoam head by covering it with tinfoil and heat shrinking painters drop plastic - 1 mill - over it. I think I could add some wire in between layers of plastic to add support, but they're pretty light. I'm not sure how much detail you could get but it might work to make a lighter copy of your head.

It came out awesome! How about a skeleton made out of multiple skeletons with lots of skulls on its body and the skull heads attached to its body throw out fog and a black mesh can be its robe?

Love this so much!! The "mistake" foam did make it look like it is so organic, rotten, evil? Got to be the coolest prop on the block.

After your foam dries you can sand it with a fine grit sandpaper if you want to smooth out certain areas. To have a smoother effect.
