I’m so glad you just posted this video. I’ve been experimenting using spray foam and balloons to make pumpkins. I’ve been wracking my brain trying to come up with another method to make the shape. The balloon is super precarious. 😂🎃

I've seen the balloon method, it did not seem ideal. Glad you enjoyed the video, this was fun!
@markgreenbaum96808 ай бұрын
I did the same thing a few years ago and made a "Pumpkin Head" for a costume. I used waxed paper on a piece of cardboard,pulled the neck of the balloon through a small whole in the paper/cardboard, and then wrapped waxed paper and painters tape around the lower half of the balloon so it would stand up while I applied the G.S. foam. I did a "stem" on top with G.S. and then carved the stem to shape.

The way the jaw moved when you used it as a mask was actually terrific! It would make an excellent Headless Horseman or general pumpkinhead character. If it strikes your fancy, I would loooooove to see a video about how to make a gargoyle. All the tutorials I have found are about making something actually concrete, or else an intensive foam-board-carving process. I know you could do it inexpensively, quickly, and more easily! I'm guessing you would shape the details with your favorite Loctite sculpting method, but i can't figure what kind of base/frame would be good for the relatively small scale of a gargoyle 🤔

When your DIY "Hack" is way more expensive, complicated, time-consuming, and worse looking than just carving a real pumpkin.
@StiltbeastStudios8 ай бұрын
its not a hack, never said that. look at the other comments, there are a few like this as KZfaq pushes me out to a wider audience who don't decorate or have a haunted house to decorate. people have been trying to figure out a spray foam pumpkin for about 15 years for home haunts and haunted attractions. This is semi permanent, will last for years and costs $12 to make. It takes an hour and a half and you can carve whatever face you want in it. You don't need a fake pumpkin, so you don't see the need this fills.

With most other brands of great stuff, I've had a lot of luck preventing sticking with water that is heavily saturated with detergent soap (a.k.a. "Wet Water."): 1) Take a water bottle with a sprayer, and the most basic liquid dish soap you can find. 2) Fill the water bottle 3/4 of the way with water. 3) Start adding soap until you have filled the bottle 1/8 of the way with the dish soap. (1/2 of the remaining usable volume.) 4) DO NOT SHAKE. Roll the water bottle back and forth gently until the soap has dissolved. 5) If the initial application still sticks, just add more dish soap to the water, roll-mix it, and try again. Don't be shy with the detergent. 6) Re-apply to your hands/tools every few minutes until the foam starts to harden. You can also use this to sculpt with caulk.

So happy this video popped up, I just subscribed. Years ago I wanted to work with this around a mirror and you seashells. It looks like fun. I can't wait to check out your other videos.
