Because the kind of people who would enjoy his decent acting have been totally blown off by the rest of his career, and his standby audience are totally uninterested. It's the reason Funny People and Reign Over Me under-performed.

Yeah that would be awesome for sure. Still Sandler is doing great even with Netflix. Hustle was an amazing film. Sandler can act with the right script. I wish he would have got a nomination for Hustle. I think I misunderstood Uncut Gems but despite the content no denying Sandler was terrific in it.

Everything about this movie is a delight. One thing that's looked over in this film are the technical aspects. The lighting, camera movements, framing, timing, and EXTREME attention to detail bring this film to a whole other level that most people don't take into consideration. Punch-Drunk Love is a very underrated and unfortunately overlooked film in my opinion, maybe because it's essentially an offbeat romantic comedy? I don't know, but to be honest I think it's a bit ahead of it's time. I mean you can see the influences like Altman and Jacques Tati, but there's just certain elements and details to it that simply no one is really doing in film today.

One of Barry's insecurities is that he really likes to dress up in a sharp outfit when everyone else dresses all casually which can very easily make him feel awkward when he's out in public. That is definitely one of my own insecurities.

Well this was the first film he did where he began to wear his Kubrickian influences on his sleeve. Boogie Nights and Magnolia were more Scorcese and Altman, and Hard Eight was more Demme. There Will Be Blood was even more so Kubrickian w/ a bit of John Huston and some Malickian Lyricism. The Master felt like an even further extension of the classicist style he adopted in Blood, w/ him becoming more minimalist and lyrical, and in a sense impressionistic. Inherent Vice is going to kick ass.

That's why it's called acting, I really like Adam Sandler and he was amazing in this but not to make other dramatic films as it's taxing is nothing I've ever heard from an actor. I know alot of theatre actors who play these characters day in, day out. It's what they live for ✌️

Yeah I totally agree. He also said the same about Sandler in The Wedding Singer which he only disliked because he thought it was predictable but he said Sandler still had promise and he still liked Sandler in the film. He then got annoyed with him in The Waterboy and then he passed away. Nonetheless I think Gene would have loved a few Sandler movies had he lived this one, Uncut Gems, The Meyrowitz Stories and Hustle which to me is Sandler’s best performance.

Seeing Licorice Pizza, highly recommended, made me want to dig up other PTA films (the only one I've seen is Boogie Nights and Inherent Vice). It's strange that these 2 acclaimed film critics basically articulated everything I thought--especially in regards to how superb Adam Sandler tackled this complex character. This is my 3rd favorite Adam Sandler movie after Licorice Pizza and Boogie Nights. I didn't really care for Inherent Vice but am really looking forward to the other PTA films.

I actually had to go out and buy a copy of the videogame for PS2 at the time because I liked it so much, lol. But I can relate to lots of little things in both movies. With any song or film you never relate completely with everything but certain scenes or stanzas in music will stand out and variably with different people.
