Heat of the moment scenario here. I'm not a fan of either team but from watching this in slow-mo here's my observations. Both players fight for the ball. The Maryland player is so off balance(foot-wise) she's trying to get her hand/wrist out of the grip the Michigan player has with the ball. As the Michigan player continuously rotates left & right, the Maryland player finally gets her hand/wrist out of the grip and regains her balance. As this happens, the Michigan players momentum makes her look like she threw an elbow at the Maryland player which causes the Maryland player to push the Michigan player's head/shoulder area. After that the Michigan player threw a left punch(she missed) and the Maryland player wanted to throw a right punch but pulled back and was held back by the ref. And finally, the last subtle punch the Michigan player threw at the Maryland player(idk if she connected its hard to tell). Refs got it right on this one. Both players needed to be ejected.

Both players could have let go of the ball when the whistle was blown. Instead, they kept tussling, nowhere near a brawl. If one player was out, both should be out!!!

D1 womens game getting much more physical and the girls/women are not prepared to deal with it based on high school or club experience. Seeing a lot of over reacting to physical play, and a lot of refs who dont know how to handle it either.

I think the call was right! 🫡 to the refs for this call. Bc BOTH PLAYERS grabbed the ball and tries to wrestle for it. The MI player won the tussle for the ball. BUT MD player’s arm was stuck in grip that the MI Player also had on the ball. The MD player then appears to try to get her arm back by pushing the MI player with her free hand. The MI player then seems to be responding to being pushed by the MD player by dropping the ball (and subsequently freeing the MD player’s arms) and shoving the MD player back. This then became a quick pushing match. Just seemed like they got caught up in the moment and it escalated quickly.

Dumber ppl have a harder time switching back and forth between game on and game off. I take it that you are part of the latter group since you can’t wrap your head around it.

Are you sure? Because in times past, fighting was common everywhere. Boys were expected to fight. It was “boys being boys”. And in sports, fighting was common. Bench clearing brawls in baseball, hockey and the NBA. Even in the streets they used to have “rumbles”. So I guess I am really wondering why you think fighting is new. People that succeed in sports tend to be alphas. And when alphas go head to head, fights may, and do break out. Check out old Celtic games. Pistons games. Any MLB or NHL teams. If anything, fighting is actually less common than it used to be. Even the females. Nothing is new.
